/mu/ what albums got you into music?
what artists/songs/albums sparked that interest?

Fuck, i love that album, overnight is the most played song on my last.fm...
I think Burzums Filosofem was the album that broadened my musical horizons, i didn't like metal at the time but i couldnt stop listening to that album. After that i discovered /mu/ and various other sources of music and now i listen to everything.

It's probably a cliché'd album to mention in this context but it really is pic related. Really pushed me to look further into other genres.

These guys, specifically People Who Can Eat People... because I heard People ii: The Reckoning on Pandora or something and that really sparked my interest in stuff like this and led me to discovering music that was outside the "mainstream"

I'm really grateful for this band because of this occurrence, they're seriously one of my favorite acts out there today. Even got to meet Sean once and he played a song that i requested.

Like 5 years ago someone on ultimate guitar asked how this dude made glitchy drums in one of his track, at the time I literally only listened to pop punk and punk rock music.
I checked it out, and hearing the electronic tingled post rock songs blew my mind as I had never heard anything like it. I googled it, saw the post rock tag everywhere, got into second wave post rock, and from there I branched out to tonnes of other genres I had no idea existed.

I don't really listen to post rock anymore, but I'm really really happy I discovered this album.
