My new bass head has two inputs, passive and active.
Which should I use if my bass has both passive and active pickups?
Also, my fuzz pedal has two outputs, dry and effected, so would it be a bad idea to run both outputs into my head to preserve low ends?
I tried it briefly, and it sounded great, but could it cause long term damage/damage at higher volume?

Tremolo picking from a classical view point is a series of triplets that are made to sound continuous in a given song.
See Sueno La Floresta amongst other songs.
A lot of fast runs in classical guitar are entirely plucked with rest strokes.

All techniques were easier with them, including tremolo picking.

>neck adjustment

There's no right way, it's preference. Maybe swap the Blues Driver with the way? Wah output a high impedance load onto the next pedal, so that might not be good on the chorus soundwise. If you're not using the Fuzz Face for that classic "rolled off" volume tone, maybe the BD into that might sound good.

In the end, with that little of pedals you can experiment with what sounds good easily. Personally, I don't use wahs but if you encounter the problem over and over, maybe look into modding it for true bypass if you really want it in your chain.

I started about a month ago, felt really depressed wanted to do something to try and bring up my confidence and stuff, thought I always wanted to learn a guitar so why not do that, I read up online and I heard about Rocksmith, being a gamer I kind of jumped on that, Bought rocksmith and a beginner Best Choice electronics electric guitar kit, I have been doing this since November 25th, just an hour a day, I thought I was doing alright even though the game kept registering all the notes on the E and A strings as one fret off. yesterday those two strings snapped, bought a set of Earnie Ball Regular Slinky and decided to replace all the strings, they sound so much better and the frets register correctly now, that being said with these new wires I'm now noticing how incredibly awful I am lol. I keep muting any string I have to press down with my fourth finger no matter how or where I press down. figured the finger is just too soft and not practiced enough.

tl;dr Sorry for the blog post is it alright to just keep going through Rocksmith tutorials and stuff for now or should I pick up other stuff as well?

Luthiers will tap tune the top close to(but not at, to avoid wolf notes) a main nate, say F#.
The back may be tuned a 5th or so higher at C#.
The tuning changes once the top and back of the guitar join the sides and the box is closed.

Nah, look at the average theory obsessed shredder. They understand the theory side of jazz better than anyone but they always play horrible cheesy shit with the knowledge they have.

Having a good intuitive feeling for the notes you play is much more important in jazz than consciously thinking about the theory side of what you're playing.

Maybe I should've copied that memory thing I wrote.

Active recall and associating something with various things are two of the best ways to register something into long-term memory.

Percieve something (be it auditorily or visually) like
>String 6 Tuned to E open note = E
>String 6 Tuned to E 1st fret = F
>etcetera
Then without looking at your answers cheat, write it down, say it out loud, play it, or whatever.

If you break it down into chunks of 3-9 at a time, maybe do something like ROYGBV (colors of the rainbow), and you're utilizing mnemonics.
Combining various memorization techniques has been shown to be an effective way to memorize things.

There are various ways to associate something with various things.
Here's an example.

E note.
It's the first chord in how I learned smoke on the water.
It's second note in the standard chord is B.
E is the 2nd fret on the 6th string tuned to D.
D is the open note in Drop D, Dadgad, as well as Double drop D.
Etcetera.

It takes years to develop your ear, but it helps if you start listening to songs and actively trying to deceiver the chords or any tones for that matter. You'll be able to incorporate this practice into the time you're listening to a song you're learning to play.

Also, the more often you tune your guitar and pay attention to the way each string sounds will help you eventually build a point of reference for hearing these notes. Its good to play each open string over and over and soon you'll be able to hear the tones of each open string in your head, just like when you've got a song stuck in your head.

I posted this in its own thread before noticing this general. Got no replies there so I'll try here:

I'm a beginner guitar player and I got my first acoustic a few months ago. I changed the strings on purchase to a set of custom light stings.

I tried to lower the action a bit too by filing the bridge a fraction of a milometer. It sounded fine and was much easier to play. It's sounded great for weeks.

The other day I tried to play a song that required me to tune down a full step. I did, but now everything sounds completely fucked up. When I retune to standard E, any chord I play sounds completely fucked. I've tried two different tuners with the same results. Also, the low E string sounds muted and it makes a weird buzzing noise if I hit it really hard.

Did I fuck up? Do I need to bring this into a shop? Was it the saddle filing that ruined things? I don't really understand what I did, but it sounds terrible. I can't really afford to spend a shit load of cash on repairs.

Pls be nice to me I'm a newbie.

So far I've copped a Gibson Banjolie for $200, an old Tenor Guitar for $50, and a Shamisen for $75.

I've heard that it can be dangerous to adjust the truss rod.

By fixed, do you mean adjust it and play it until it sounds better? ..or should I be looking at the neck?

I'm sort of afraid of damaging the guitar. I only filed the saddle because it's cheap and easy to replace.

You mind will digest new information while you're away. Idk if this happens while you sleep or just returning to the same problem. This has been documented in psychology. Thus it's better to put in small increments of practice or study repeatedly rather than just one or two long struggles.

How did you file it? The proper way is to remove it and file the bottom to lower it. If you notched the top, then yeah it might need replacing. A notched saddle can cause weird sitar-like buzzing.
Adjusting the neck is fairly simple. You just look down the edges of the neck while tuned to pitch. If it's bowed back loosen the truss rod a hair to straighten it out. If it's bowed up, loosen the strings first then tighten the rod. It's ok to overtighten slightly because you can then sight down the neck again and loosen it, which doesn't require detuning. When I do setups, I typically go for dead nuts straight and only put a little relief in it if there's excessive fret buzz

I'd look at like a roland Jazz chorus or Vox AC30 kinda thing, something uber clean
though i'd argue if you have decent laptop you can just torrent and old version of guitar rig and use that, it wont distort and offers up a ton of models, is free (hehe) and is super easy to record from instead of using something like and amp and having to deal with getting the right micing and all that, its also as loud or quiet as you'd want
and if you have a chill laptop you can run the headphone jack into the front of a cheap solid state combo and acquire some noice uber cleans with as much pedals as you want for cheaps

well jeez man Laney's are cool and yours doesnt sound too bad from the videos i found, though apperently they brake down semi often so watch out,
it seems to cover some tonal range and get at least get into ac/dc mode pretty well, so i'd say you're best bet is to get like a EHX Od glove (bout 60) and keep the amp at like a midway in the gain so that way you could boost it with the glove, or rolll back the volume knob on your guitar to clean up a tad bit, theres also the fulltone OCD (bout a hunnit) which works pretty good, but thats more like tubesreamer kinda thing and it wont get "muffy" like the glove can,
fulltone also makes this pedal called the fulldrive which is like a two in one pedal the newer red one has both a boost and an od, which is cool cause then you can use the boost the hit the front of the amp a bit harder to get more clear drivey tons, and then the od to get the over the top full saturation stuff
so yea, cheapest is prolly the OD glove

JJ's are best for the Hot Rods, I've found. The Deville, if you have a II or a III, actually has a bias pot in the amp itself, which is super easy. If you have a multimeter, it's got premade spots for you to place them and turn the flathead until the bias is correct.

Look in the manual to see what the bias should be. Make sure to bake in your tubes first.

Buy and electric without buying and amp is stupid. The only true reason is because the fledging musician wants to feel/look cooler.

Buy and acoustic, be much happier, discover other music

Not that stupid if you're going to buy an amp relatively soon.
Also, that has relatively little to do with my point.
I encourage all people to play an acoustic.

I'm no doctor (but I was considering it at a few points in my life). Don't take everything I say with godly certainty,I'm usually rambling around a few loose good points.

Sounds like a II. Done it a few times on those, real simple.

I'm confused as to whom I'm speaking with. Are you the prospective guitar-buyer?

Does anybody know how much work it is to get an EMG 808x in my RG8? I have almost no knowledge of how pickups are installed honestly.

Totally. Also, I had an old hot rod deluxe. Is swapped the Preamp tubes with 12AU7's so it didn't break up as fast, sounded great. If you like your cleans a lot, try them.

I haven't put in those specifics, but i've swapped a couple of ibanez 7 strings. Open the plate in back, fish the wire through, unscrew the pickup. Real easy stuff.

No, I'm pretty sure it's 2015.
Since it's 2015, techniques shouldn't be played and listened to because of hype, they should be enjoyed by enthusiasts and utilized as just another set of techniques to put in your collective guitar library.

Any idea about whether it will fit without modification? I ordered a 707x for my Douglas and it ended up being just barely too big for the slot, and I wasn't about to shell out big money for that kind of modification.

There are a few hits on youtube and forums of people with the 808X in their RG8's. I would say it's a safe assumption.

If you wanna be cautious, order it via a local store so you can return it if it doesn't fit.

There will probably people who will use anything as a gimmick for hundreds of thousands of years. Perhaps, until the end of humanity.

As a first electric guitar? There's a full white version too. Worth the price? Will it be decent?

We get the bullet strats in from KMC.
They're very eh, years ago they dropped noticably in quality.
Some of them play well, others have sharp frets, necks need adjustment, and the action's too high.
Don't buy one online if possible.

What about this? Not looking for something super flashy, I am still learning.

This website has a store near me that I'd be going to.
