Hip-hop was built on partying and escape. Another form of black music that was about sex and having a good time was rock.
And another form was disco.

The thing here is, these genres started of simple with a simple basis and you have two types of outsiders who always want to come in and change shit for their liking.

First you have the commercializers who just want to bang out the same old bullshit for money.
Then you have the "intellectuals" who want to come it, claim the music should be about this certain thing, and that it was never about that thing. Both like to rob shit of it's soul.

This is what happened to rock music. Yeah white guys kept it fun for awhile, but then some sissier pencil necked art school students and "intellectuals" picked up guitars and decided, "HEY HOWS ABOUT WE STARTED MAKING THIS CONTRIVED PRETENTIOUS BULLSHIT!"

This is the problem with guys like Lupe Fiasco. He's the pencil necked sissy art school white boy of hip-hop. The "hey look at how complex I can play this guitar!" of hip-hop. His flow shows this. Guy got too into himself and started going over people heads, yet you want to reach the people? This is why he simplified again on Testsuo and Youth.

I watched a video recently on Vlad TV and the guy Lord Jamar made a good point, you can have a great flow and be saying a lot of bullshit. You don't need to have the best flow to deliver a message, Kanye is proof of that. This is why "All Falls Down" will always strike a chord with people while the general public couldn't give a fuck less about much Lupe Fiasco raps about.

Hopsin is just an example of a guy rapping about the same shit others rappers said better. He has an ego problem and thinks hes great. Mos did it better, Common did it better, Talib did it better, Tribe did it better and they did it with better beats and more style and finesse than Hopsin could ever hope to do.
