You are wrong. It doesn't feature reverbed sound effects in the background. That's his key selling point.

I fucking hate that Americans and indie rock listeners latched onto Burial because they just don't get this kind of shit.

You're all so fucking stupid and I sympathise with Kode9 for resenting Burial's success outside of Britain.

>alternative contenders
MA's teardrop
Basinski's (choose 1) disintegration loop

plus ukgarage is shite
Burial's basslines are much more wide and (distorted) and raw than that shit.
more like ed rush, source direct, list goes on etc

>Kode9 for resenting Burial's success outside of Britain
source?
that seems kinda dumb since burial himself said that he was more or less making pop music, accessible, straight-to-the-point, sexy for the ladies etc

>a rip off

seriously, it just has a funky, clean 2step groove. It's a style, and burial just embraces that.

What sets burial apart is how consistent he is with his drum timbres. No one else fucking does that.

>seriously, it just has a funky, clean 2step groove.
and a rough bass (appears midway in the OP link)
and distorted sound effects (appears throughout the OP link)
and soulful melancholic vocals (appears throughout the OP link)

but basically what >>52533746 said

>> No.52534335

yeah well that track is probably a rip-off of another track

who gives a shit

You can't say that unless you can proove it. Yeah Stone Cold is a 2step track with some slight jazz elements in it which other 2step track did before it, but it's hardly a rip off of anything that came out prior to it.

Whereas Burial openly admits his early career was just remaking Stone Cold and adding various random samples in.

More importantly
>Is influence by Jungle
>Does not produced Jungle
This doesn't make any sense.

>> No.52534594

nah, m8.
it's more like:
>Burial's entire career is failing to rip-off of this track

much like how most of early dubstep was skream and them lot failing to recreate similar dark garage tunes at the time.

but yeah, there's nods to this shit, but you have to be pretty damn near deaf (or just simply not get it) to think of it in terms of ripping off.
