Want to get into jazz, but everyone i know always recommends this album, and i've already heard it. Can anyone recommend essential jazz records for a beginner?

idk but I'm listening to The Amazing Bud Powell, Vol. 1 atm and it's got me feeling so this would probably be good. I'm actually listening to the reissue from 2001. The song lengths are also way shorter so that should help.

Except that outside the first two it's not really organised well, leans too heavily towards free jazz and ignores about half of jazz history and half of the 10 most influential jazz musicians because their material doesn't come conveniently packaged in albums. It's a bit like a rockist's guide to "jazz"

Dude, use one of our charts as an entry point.
Listen to one or two albums, and then flow with whatever you like.
Enjoyed Kind of Blue? you might wanna check some more Davis - or perhaps try one of the other players on the album. Coltrane is the main attraction ofc. Just flow.

Stick to Jtg's main one >>52303586
For the time being. Maybe look at the first one or two of Thelonious Monk's albums on the first one just because he was so significant. The second chart is for those seaking MOAR.

You don't need any more. You have enough charts and a rym link that will more that satisfy your needs. Some of these artists have huge discographies that will take you weeks to listen to.
