I was never into metal as a teen. I was into a lot of hip-hop and techno only because I went to highschool in Detroit and a lot of my friends were into the genres, funny that most of my friends were black and fucking loved techno. Im getting into metal rite now actually

i loved metal and solely metal when I was 10 up until I was a freshman in high school. so I guess I was 15. but i never really grew out of it I just started to listen to other things like math rock, post hardcore etc. I can still appreciate a good metal song.

Metal is just another branch on a really large tree. I didn't grow out of it but I don't listen to it that much anymore. I actually hate about 99% of what people call metal. But I'd be down for some old Iron Maiden or Sabbath any day.

Opeth was my favorite band as a freshman in highschool, but a year later I would've told you that metal was only for angry children, It's part of growing up to suddenly see things you used to like as childish. But then you keep growing up and are able to enjoy those things again.
