Well for starters, Birds is arguably, and I say arguably, their best song. Also the kicker with Pillbox hat is just such an abrasive and entrancing introduction. The glass breaking and the loud pitched siren is almost a perfect representation of a lot of the album. It is more frantic instrumentally than anything they've done on other projects, and follows much less of what some might call a basic song/chorus structure. It's the most "Death Grips" album DG has made.

I saw them live at the Echo, I think 2012 in December, and Zach came up, everyone went crazy. He never looked at the crowd but still had some emotion in his face while he was setting up his drums. That kind of scrunched up, angry look on your face when you are working on something or focused on something.

Then Ride walks out. The whole place is going ballistic. A lot of /mu/tants yelling out cringeworthy shit, a lot of people yelling Stefan, we love you, etc. etc.

He had not a single expression on his face. He looked straight ahead past the crowd with this blank stare with glazed over eyes. He stood there like this for what felt like a really long, uncomfortable amount of time, something you wouldn't see in a typical performance from a band at the Echoplex or the Observatory.

To this day I have never seen such an interesting performance. I don't even call it performances when I see bands typically it's typically some garage rock/punk band playing a dive bar or some shitty house show.

To me them reenforcing the barrier between the musicians and the fans was something I loved. No bands do that now so therefore no bands are interesting. I remember as a kid music seemed otherworldly. Who the fuck are these guys? How are they doing this? There was this magical quality about music that I feel goes away when I get to understand that these people are just your average typical person.

I don't know I'm just rattling on but I revisit that show a lot in my mind and remember how fucking insane it was. Anybody else have some DG stories?
