In most circles outside of 4Chan, Floyd's "best" is usually referred to as DSOTM, WYWH, Animals, and The Wall. People don't usually bring this up, even when mentioning the Syd Barrett stuff. Thank you /mu/

I think Piper is the best floyd and I really like Saucerful. I rate them 7 and 7.5 because, into my scale, it means that I'm very interested in those albums. 10 mean absolute perfection, and if floyd albums are a 10 for you, I wonder what your comparison basis are.

10 = MESMERISING, perfect record
9 = excellent, contemplation-tier music, big work on the sound
8 = strong, obvious value, powerful album
7 = good, I like it, relistenable; interresting ideas.
6 = not bad, decent, enjoyable
5 = average, bof
4 = uninteresting
3 = weak & bad
2 = can't even finish
1 = horrible / late career, why did they even bother

Piper at the Gates of Dawn is a psychedelic masterwork, it deserves a 7/10 at lowest.

Saucerful of Secrets is amazing, but not as good as Piper, in my opinion.
