Why are so many people on /mu/ so anti rap?
Just until recently it was completely acceptable to discuss hip hop artists, people loved Drake, people loved Gucci Mane, people loved Chief Keef. But now, every rap thread that isn't a hip hop general (sadly, even those get flooded by shitposters) gets instantly derailed, filled with racists and elitists claiming rap is "subhuman garbage", redirecting people who like rap to reddit and kanyetothe, using racial slurs and similar. Why is that?
It's perfectly alright to listen to artists such as Chief Keef, Drake, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Rich Homie Quan, Waka Flocka Flame and others.
All of them are already "critically acclaimed" and highly successful. Chief Keef was a legend when he was only 17, Young Thug is a musical genius, Lil Wayne is a multiple Grammy winner, Gucci and Waka basically invented trap and Waka completely innovated hip hop when Flockaveli came out. Drake is a great artist, Lil B is in a category of his own.
Why are people telling others not to listen to rap? You should keep listening to whatever sounds good to you, there is absolutely no proof that one music is "better" than the other or that music by, let's say, Webern or Feldman has more value than the music of Chief Keef or Young Thug.
