Look at a band like Led Zeppelin though. Each member was/is a MASTER at their instrument. I'm not saying they were "the best hands down" but undeniably technically proficient paired with good songwriting. I don't think bands NEED to explore electronics in order to think of new ways to play their instruments/write their songs. I'm in no way someone who has this concept of "real music" but there is just simply a lack of artists who have undeniable technical ability paired with artistic vision and his been since the end of Led Zeppelin. Most guitarists are good at either rhythm or solos, but not both. Tony Iommi, the riff god, had very simplistic, limited solo-ing while EVH produced physics-defying solos, but his rhythm guitar was mediocre.

If you want a japanese band that is kind of like nirvana (keeping it relevant to the thread) but actually good, you could check out Number Girl.

Japan has a really healthy psych rock scene aswell, i'd rec you check out the japshare blogspot, dude's got great taste and a lot of crazy and interesting bands.

For more recs i'd kind of need to know what you want a bit more specifically, and it's kind of difficult for me now as i'm not on my computer and have to try to remember good ones at the top of my head, which is even harder because most of them are in japanese.

Yea Bonzo isn't on the level of some crazy ass jazz drummer but he's still incredible and inspired probably every drummer after him to take up the drums. Bonzo made a lot of noise for using such a small kit and 1 bass pedal. And sometimes his bare fucking hands (Led Zeppelin DVD version of Moby Dick drum solo).

Bonham was just an average player with a good groove, heavy dynamics and some nice triplet fills. But seriously it doesn't matter, I think the drums on those Zep records sound great, but I also know that Bonham wasn't the drumming god people make him out to be.
