ITT: you post your most prized physical copy of music.

It's really not much, but it was limited to 500 like 6 years ago and I got a sealed copy like 2 months ago for $40 on a fluke. Seller did not know it was limited. It was something special opening it.

sides C and D are black but side D is just a machine etching of the album art. will post.

I don't have anything amazingly expensive, but I am very proud of snagging a 70s French copy of Tago Mago, an original UK Unknown Pleasures, and an original pressing of The Replacements - Let It Be. The latter only cost me $16, so I guess that's the one I'm proudest of.

Be me last year. Have a friend in the fashion industry. Invites me to an invite only party in the meat packing district at 1 AM. Its kanye, showing a room of about 60 people max Yeezus for the firs time. He's walking around and easily approachable. Bring this record to get signed. He's nice as fuck. In high school I went through a bit of a vinyl collecting phase. Got Windowlicker and Come to Daddy, got Find Candace, got a few uncommon records. I also spent some money on cheaper shit that I knew wasn't that rare but that I liked anyway: the original Jesus Christ Superstar record, etc.

In that spirit, I found a used copy of F#A#Infinity by GY!BE kicking around on Hastings. No images, no details, just said "used," and for like fifteen bucks. I liked the album so I bought it and didn't think twice about it. Now I'll have a vinyl backup of it as a novelty.

It comes in the mail and the package is a bit heavier than expected. I open it and there's all this crap in the vinyl sleeve--handbills, pictures, a flattened penny. The record is clean but has shit scratched into it. I do some research and it turns out I accidentally bought one of the original five hundred pressings of the album. I own a tiny piece of music history.

No pictures because I moved and it's in storage. It's one of my most prized music possessions.

there is a record trade show that sets up in convention centers, hotel conference rooms and the like that tours around to cities in VA/NC/SC/TN. Its usually dealers and people who have record stores nearby that set up to sell, sometime people with collections sell also. Mostly just ends up being full of people selling the standard fare of older records, classic rock, that sort of thing. When the show was in my city a dude was set up there and had a ton of relatively obscure cassettes and vinyl from all genres but it was mostly all from the last decade. Literally no one at his tables while the rest were slammed. I found a couple of Forest Swords records, some Daniel Lopatin tapes, etc. Last time the show came around dude was there again. His pricing for the vast majority of things was generally a few % under market value but I guess those just slipped under his radar. $20 each...
