Listening to Slipknot's new album. It's pretty decent honestly, they've definitely stepped up their game when it comes to instrumentation, probably the heaviest sounding to date, but being Slipknot it's obviously not going to be technically impressive, the vocalist seems pretty bored of Slipknot but does a good job, a lot more clean hooks. There's still corny edge put in for the kids but not the "I AM DEF 666" that they used to have

I'd recommend it but you faggots will dismiss it immediately because you don't want to be embarrassed around your invisible friends.

As for real metal, Iave been out of the loop this year, I mostly just listen to new albums from bands I used to be into. Pic related is still probably my AOTY

It's only an EP sadly, but hype.

October 31st is gonna be good times for orthodox black metal.

:Ascension - Deathless Light - EP - to be released on October,31st

As a precursor to their forthcoming second album, German black metal tyrants ASCENSION unleash the Deathless Light EP. Ever aptly titled, this two-song strike beams brilliantly with an illumination that can only come from the most fathomless, pure-obsidian depths of the spirit. ASCENSION's debut album, 2010's Consolamentum, became a classic in the underground not long after its release; it evinced a wealth of maturity in composition and execution for such a new band. Here, the quintet extend that maturity even further, unfurling orthodox black metal that brims with creativity and passion, fervor and professionalism, utter darkness and radiant glory, every note and nuance exactly where it should be and nothing wasted nor sacrificed. The title track will feature on ASCENSION's upcoming new album for W.T.C., while "Garden of Stone" is exclusive to this release. Deathless Light shines on...

Formats: limited Digipak CD, limited 12"MLP,Digital (the vinyl version might take a little longer though, due to the generally increased manufacturing times)

My issue with RoS is that they don't actually try to write songs. Its just random riffs, random blasts, no real structure of any of it.

Actual tech death has fast riffs and blasts, but behind it there's some actual structure to it. RoS just sounds like a bunch of bits and pieces of songs interspliced with random tapping sections, blasts, and br00tal vokillz.

The first track was excellent, sounded like a prime cut from ADOM.
Second one was boring, the only one of their instrumentals I haven't liked.
Third reminds me of Blue Day For Croatoa in a good way, atmospheric as fuck.
Need to listen to the 4th one but I'm digging it so far. Like all heir other albums, it has a distinctive atmosphere despite being short.

Album art is literally the worst I've seen all year, looks like trendy graffiti or something.

Shit, track 4 just kicked in. It carries the heaviness of Wake/Lift with the intricate guitar work and hardcore influence. It slows down a little in the middle but I felt like it ended on a good note.

I know this is an EP so it's hard to compare it to their other work. I'd say that sonically it still takes advantage of some of the TA elements without sounding uninspired like it did. My only complaints are the lack of anything exciting in "Seven Years With Nothing To Show", and the lack of vocals throughout the album. The passionate screaming always gave their music an extra push when it came to feels, but it's pretty sparse this time. Still, it's a solid EP and I feel like they're back on track from the disaster of a last album. Not really a display of any evolution, since in essence it's TA but less sucky.
I'd say 7.5, have to listen to it some more.
Rosetta's albums always end up becoming classics with me so we'll have to see how this one ages.

if someone likes cryptopsy what are the chances they have baggy jeans, gratuitous wallet chains, huge boots, a corset wearing girlfriend, they think anything ___core is "gay", they drink hobgoblin, if they're in a band the name sounds like an ancient roman city, they post on metal archives, they have greasy hair, they have a sculpted beard, they secretly like TBDM, they have an extensive vinyl collection (of mostly digital remaster pressings), they have those little statues of dragons and goblins, they burn incense, they identify as pagan, they hate pop music

I got the vest as a present, and it's good. Even though it's from EMP. Slipknot are very much a relic from the past. If i heard them today i wouldnt are for them. But they were on of the bands that got me into metal, and some of there music i still consider good. And some of it is so bad, i cant listen to it anymore. As for Sabaton, they're just great fun. You could never leave a sabaton show sad.

You're just gonna have to accept the realisation that you don't really want to make music, you just want the (imagined) perks of being a musician without any effort.

After this realisation you have two options: 1) get over it and get on with your life, 2) become a vocalist.

>> No.50487563

>>50487289

No, I do want to make music, I just don't have the patience to learn the instrument, nor do I think I will have the time.

I may eventually get off my high horse and actually get the work done or just let it go
