Merzbow has been recording with some jazz/metal drummer for like 5 years or something, I only like some of their songs though. I honestly think there is no point in having an un-processed instrument alongside noise, I've seen some cool sets and videos of people using classical instruments like cellos and clarinets and hooking them up and making some cool sounds with them. But to just play alongside with just unaltered sound just doesn't make sense and seems pretty boring. That one guy from Hijokaidan plays the sax though so take my opinion as you will.

Yea - the merzbow stuff with live instrumentation is kinda boring. It is hard to do with thick noise that has steady dynamics.
