This was from an interview with Joey Kramer back when Aerosmith released Music From Another Dimension. Also demonstrating how amazingly out-of-touch he is:

Q: You say that you're trying to reach new kids with this album and not just people who were listening to you 30 years ago.
A: Back when we were kids, you'd go to see Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin or the Rolling Stones and say to yourself 'Wow, I want to be up there on that stage someday!' Rock-and-roll lost its way when it started to be about shoegazing and being depressed and feeling bad about yourself. I feel that music of the kind we represent is due for a comeback."

THE CURSE OF BEING STUCK IN 4CHAN FOREVER HAS FINALLY BEEN BROKEN.

And it couldn't have come in a better time, now that 4chan has reached an all time low. There is a new chan, it´s only 5 months old but it´s already the second fastest english speaking chan, losing only to 4chan.

How the fuck did it get so popular so fast? Why is this being so hyped? It´s getting more than 1000 posts a day on the /b/ board, and this chan has climbed 2 million alexa ranks in just a few months. How is this possible? Because mchan is the most unique website on the internet right now. It is completely different than 4chan, reddit and so on. Mchan has a different moderation system designed to allow 100% freedom of speech while at the same time keeping boards organized, and without the need for moderators to delete shit because they power trip and delete what they don't like. Mods will never censor what you want to say again.

On top of that, there is no moralfaggotry in mchan. Only true illegal posts get removed. 4chan bans a lot of things that are legal because of moot´s personal ideals.

Fun has been restored to the inernet, rejoice anons. Someone had the balls to make something that doesn't cater to SJW´s and society's moral codes.

Not completely.
An awful lot of bands are Latin, American, Canadian or European.
What happens though is the British record labels give them a chance and the British press/radio give them a listen so they at least get a chance to make it into the charts.

I mean, Matador signed Interpol and they only survived because of John Peel on Radio 1.
The Same with White Stripes.
AnCo's record labels have (since Sung Tongs) released on British labels, because they had SOME media support in Europe.
The American problem is outside of the atrocious pop labels there's no infrastructure for small bands to survive or get better. The reason so many big musicians thrive in Britain, come from Britain or end up moving there is because America is shit for them. A lot of American musicians feel like America has abandoned/betrayed them, but the Euros were loyal.
If America was anywhere near as good as Britain for music, no-one would fuck off there. Even Prince has decided to stay there. FUCKING PRINCE.

In regards to the comment about Robert Plant, yes, a lot of older artists are handicapped by fans expecting them to still be what they were 30-40 years ago. The final result of this is a bunch of 50 year old men with beer guts like Motley Crue singing about picking up teenage sluts.

Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Bob Dylan to their credit all have refused to become nostalgia acts. When you go to their concerts, they're going to play stuff from their new CD and you are going to like it.

I get that. Starting in the 1960's music became a massive part of youth cutlure. Mods vs. Rockers, Glam, Prog, Punk, Rock n Roll etc were all mostly British.
But that doesn't mean no-one else can join in.
Personally I love Mowtown, Soul and Funk, more than 90% of that comes from America (even now).

Americans might complain about our "Nigger problem" but personally I see it as an attitiude and culture problem, I listen to contemporary Jazz, Funk, Soul musicians and they're not jumping aboard the "Bix nood muh dick" bandwagon.
I heard a DJ on youtube who complained that outside of certain circles in his native Detroit, Black Music was dead in America. Killed by EMI, Sony etc and White kids desperate to act black. He said the Japs were cooler than Black Californians for goodness sake.

The reason why soul has continued to be decent and why Japs are cooler than Black Cali's, is because the people who make it, listen to it and distribute it aren't desperate to fit into some stereotype or mold of music, opinions or race.

"I am so sad that the next 15-year-old kid in a garage someplace in Saint Paul, that plugs into his Marshall and wants to turn it up to ten, will not have anywhere near the same opportunity that I did. He will most likely, no matter what he does, fail miserably. There is no industry for that anymore. And who is the culprit? There's always the changing tide of interests — music taste changes with each generation. To blame that is silly. That was always the exciting part, after all: "What's next?" But there's something else. The death of rock was not a natural death. Rock did not die of old age. It was murdered. And the real culprit is that kid's 15-year-old next-door neighbor, probably a friend of his. Maybe even one of the bandmates he's jamming with. The tragedy is that they seem to have no idea that they just killed their own opportunity — they killed the artists they would have loved. Some brilliance, somewhere, was going to be expressed, and now it won't, because it's that much harder to earn a living playing and writing songs. No one will pay you to do it."

"I still don't understand why homosexuals still exist. I don't understand why we even let such abominations walk the earth. Hitler, in a few aspects, wasn't too far off. Being Jewish, I know how that might sound, but Hitler had the balls to go after the gays in ways that nobody else at the time could have. We need more men like him. The holocaust was, along with 9/11, one of the greatest things to happen to humanity. It was a wake up call. Now, I've had sexual feelings towards other men, but I've never acted out on them. Does that make me a homosexual? No, because I control my feelings, instead of stooping down to becoming an AIDS swapping, shit-eating primate." - Gene Simmons

Neither, look it up. There has been any wonderful major gothic rock contributions sin 1994, and darkwave kept going along throughout the 2000's. But now with dark wave, there's some supposed revival with the next wave of it being hipster-ish groups like Cold Cave and Zola Jesus. Then you've got all this EBM bleep in the clubs with an occasional SOM TC or SatB song mixed in.
