Daily "Yeezus" appreciation thread. What's your favorite track from it? Mine is "New Slaves".
I am a God
I honestly feel like this is his worst work. I felt like most of the lyrics were very phoned in, the production was very sub par to his old work, and felt like the only 2 songs we heard before it was released, Black Skinhead and New Slaves, were the only songs he finished.i m o tho
>>49396770you're only kind of living up to your name
>>49396770new slaves and on sight are the only good songs, the rest are recycle bin worthy
>>49396857I completely agree with you. Also, i never got the MBDTF hype, maybe i'm just not a yeezy fan
>>49396876Ok.>>49396857The bad lyrics add humor to it, in my opinion. "Yeezus" is a very entertaining meme-rap album.
>>49396951i can't tell whether you're trying to be funnyeither way you should probably stop posting
>>49396857But that's the entire point. He's putting shit out there. He's literal putting shit out there and no one can call him out on it because he doesn't even have to try to be relevant.Yeah, he can call out the CCA, the DEA, the prison-industrial complex --no one gives a shit WHAT he puts out, because no one's really listening to him anyway.MBDTF was him realizing how alone he was.Yeezus was him accepting the fact that loving himself meant loving other people; it's him lashing out at those that see him as less than human, and showing how brutal that human side really can be.lolnaw jus bitches and hoes
>>49397117This why this board is shit. I'm legitimately trying to encourage some actual music discussion about famous albums in this board, and people come up with these kind of replies.
>>49397155>famous albumsWhy? It's been talked to death. Pic an interesting album and i'll join.
>>49397155sorry i assumed a "daily appreciation thread" for one of the most overdiscussed albums on this entire board was ironic. fuck me, right?if you really do like this album, that's fine, but i'm pretty sure myself as well as many others are tired of seeing this thread time after time.
>>49397155I think it's just that people here are mostly tired of discussing Kanye, also there's the whole 'memerap' backlash bullshit. And yeah, New Slaves kicks ass. That keyboard line sounds fuckin' evil, man.
>>49397283I did it. A "Yeezus" thread containing musical discussion. That's something.>>49397230Fair enough.>>49397240I want to cleanse irony from now on.
>>49397155Thing is, everyone thinks you're shitposting. Hell, even I do.We see that trip everyday, and you rarely say anything worthwhile.>>49396951>meme-rapsee?At this point it's just stale.
>>49396770black skinhead
>>49397342"meme-rap" is a thing though. That wasn't ironic.
>>49397369No, it isn't, and it will never be.
>>49397397>rap with heavy uses of irony, backpacker beats, and uses the blogosphere as a major source of communicationIt fucking exists, deal with it
>>49397397Yes it is. "Yeezus" (and a lot of other albums, not just Hip Hop albums) are treated like memes. It goes beyond the whole "ironic" aspect you're thinking about.
>>49397466And kanye has never been ironic in his life. Also, most 'memerappers' dont fit in what you described
>>49396770Threadly reminder that if you say anything but Bound 2 you're just pretending to not like it because it's the most popular song off the album.
>>49397369Not really. It's just a term used here to make fun of some hip hop artists and poke at their fans. But people hardly care now. It's how some people refer to the music here, but it really doesn't affect the piece of music.Just stop man using it. It's just boring at this point.I'm willing to believe you're not shitposting, but this whole ordeal is insipid.
>>49397527the album is a 10/10disliking any song is just pretending to not like it
Hold My Liquor and I'm in It are so fucking underrated, you'll cowards sperg out over the hit singles yet never pay attention to the real gems of the albums
Every song is decent - great except for maybe Guilt TripOn sight - 9Black Skinhead - 8I Am A God - 6New Slaves - 10Hold My Liquor - 6I'm In It - 5Blood on the Leaves - 8Guilt Trip - 4Send It Up - 7Bound 2 - 7
Black Skinhead
>>49396951>"Yeezus" is a very entertaining meme-rap album. It isn't meme rap you fucking faglord, meme rap is autistic nerdshit like Yung Lean, real rap niggas like Kanye and Lil B are not so don't insult them with that shit label
I'm In It is a fucking banger
Definitely hold my liquor>Atmosphere at the beginning>that awesome synth orgy outro
>>49397546First of all, I really like your reaction images.Meme-rap is a thing though, I mean, if there is "Conscious Hip-Hop", why "Meme-rap" is considered invalid?
>>49396770On sight - 4Black Skinhead - 3I Am A God - 3New Slaves - 6Hold My Liquor - 2I'm In It - 1Blood on the Leaves - 3Guilt Trip - 1Send It Up - 2Bound 2 - 4Beats are shit, flow is shit, raps are decent, rap concepts are pretty good.Overrated in general though.
>>49397563Send it Up tho
>>49396770New Slaves, Hold My Liquor and Black Skinhead are my favorites. Bound 2 was bad.
>>49397687>Hold My Liquor - 2> I'm In It - 1edgy
>>49397230ok, this thread is now a bas thread. we'll discuss 'last winter' and his upcoming releases.fucking 9/10 album, honestly
>>49397636Because the term is cohesive enough to hold some value. Its thematic value is strong enough to gather common acceptance on what is and what isn't Conscious Hip-Hop.Meme-rap (or any meme-[genre], really) are mostly used to dis on things. The "ironic" aspect of the music doesn't really matter. It's just an insult, it always was.And thanks for the compliment, I guess.
On Sight - 10Black Skinhead - 10I Am a God - 10New Slaves - 10Hold My Liquor - 10I'm In It - 10Blood On The Leaves - 10Guilt Trip - 6Send it Up - 10Bound 2 - 10
>>49396770What is this fucking circlejerk faggots
>>49397899Actually, it's just an experiment
>>49396857yeah, this exactly if you swap new slaves for Bound 2. also black skinhead sounded amazing on SNL
A friendly reminder that meme-rap is a memeterm and people who use it are just as bad as 9gaggers.
>>49397917So was Yeezus
>>49398006damn...
>>49398006kek
When's the new album supposed to come out?
>>49398217During Yeezy season.
>>49398006lel
Listening for the second timeon Hold My Liqor now and hating the vocals but really liking the instrumentalsso far its like a 7/10 but I really hate the rapping in Bound 2 and a couple other songs toward the end are shitI'll finally listen to MBDTF after this too. Heard the first track a few times already though
hold my liquor and i'm in it
>>49398510Finished itI'm In It was alright, Blood on the Leaves fucking sucked, Guilt Trip was meh, Send It Up was good, and Bound 2 was okay
The only 10/10 to come out this decade. The most challenging mainstream album since I can remember
>>49399364Send it up is the worst track by far m8
>>49399364I didn't think it was bad, but it is forgettableBlood on the Leaves was the worst IMO. I really hate his autotuned shitI guess that means I'll avoid 808s
>>49399540lel I replied to myselfmeant to reply to >>49399445
I am 20 and feel too old to post on /mu/. This has to be the 2nd youngest board to /b/ in terms of average age.
>>49399595I'd be surprised if /v/'s average age was over 16
>>49397927black skinhead on SNL was better than anything on yeezus
>>49399595It's definitely /v/ in second.
>>49399595but /pol/
