Daily "Yeezus" appreciation thread. What's your favorite track from it? Mine is "New Slaves".

I am a God

>> No.49396857

I honestly feel like this is his worst work. I felt like most of the lyrics were very phoned in, the production was very sub par to his old work, and felt like the only 2 songs we heard before it was released, Black Skinhead and New Slaves, were the only songs he finished.

i m o tho

Ok.

>>49396857
The bad lyrics add humor to it, in my opinion. "Yeezus" is a very entertaining meme-rap album.

But that's the entire point.

He's putting shit out there. He's literal putting shit out there and no one can call him out on it because he doesn't even have to try to be relevant.

Yeah, he can call out the CCA, the DEA, the prison-industrial complex --no one gives a shit WHAT he puts out, because no one's really listening to him anyway.

MBDTF was him realizing how alone he was.

Yeezus was him accepting the fact that loving himself meant loving other people; it's him lashing out at those that see him as less than human, and showing how brutal that human side really can be.

lolnaw jus bitches and hoes

This why this board is shit. I'm legitimately trying to encourage some actual music discussion about famous albums in this board, and people come up with these kind of replies.

>famous albums
Why? It's been talked to death. Pic an interesting album and i'll join.

>> No.49397240

>>49397155
sorry i assumed a "daily appreciation thread" for one of the most overdiscussed albums on this entire board was ironic. fuck me, right?

if you really do like this album, that's fine, but i'm pretty sure myself as well as many others are tired of seeing this thread time after time.

>> No.49397283

>>49397155
I think it's just that people here are mostly tired of discussing Kanye, also there's the whole 'memerap' backlash bullshit. And yeah, New Slaves kicks ass. That keyboard line sounds fuckin' evil, man.

I did it. A "Yeezus" thread containing musical discussion. That's something.

Yes it is. "Yeezus" (and a lot of other albums, not just Hip Hop albums) are treated like memes.

It goes beyond the whole "ironic" aspect you're thinking about.

Not really. It's just a term used here to make fun of some hip hop artists and poke at their fans. But people hardly care now.
It's how some people refer to the music here, but it really doesn't affect the piece of music.

Just stop man using it. It's just boring at this point.

I'm willing to believe you're not shitposting, but this whole ordeal is insipid.

Because the term is cohesive enough to hold some value. Its thematic value is strong enough to gather common acceptance on what is and what isn't Conscious Hip-Hop.

Meme-rap (or any meme-[genre], really) are mostly used to dis on things. The "ironic" aspect of the music doesn't really matter. It's just an insult, it always was.

And thanks for the compliment, I guess.

so far its like a 7/10 but I really hate the rapping in Bound 2 and a couple other songs toward the end are shit
