Shut the fuck up about this album oh my god I see it posted every fucking day like it's the godsend that black metal needs or something. IT'S NOT EVEN BLACK METAL it's just a fucking rip-off that is tailor-made for people who don't know a thing about metal. Why don't you all just pin a fucking button to your douchebag sweaters letting everybody know that you're musically ignorant and don't know anything about music as a whole, let alone the genre of music that this album SUPPOSEDLY belongs in. Every single one of you are almost always too busy either a) riding pitchfork's dicks like a merry-go-round or b) trying to be hip and cool by liking something that is both "hardcore AND accessible". It's like none of you fucking heathens realize how stupid that fucking sounds. Either you're hardcore or pop but you can't fucking be both. I seriously hope that you realize how stupid you all are for posting this album over and over and over and over again are because this is some /v/-tier spam/advertisement/marketing nonsense right here. This album isn't good. It's not even decent. It's dogshit and you should all feel fucking ashamed for posting this at all.

>The guy behind the band is in a really shitty situation with nuclear blast records

Bullshit. Jari isn't in any situation that he didn't put himself in. He signed a binding record contract with NBE to produce an album, that he now unwaveringly refuses to write. They gave him an advance, but that advance wasn't enough. So instead of working with what he has, managing his money well, and recouping losses with album sales and merch, like many artists much smaller than him manage to do, he has decided to sit and whine about his lack of funding. He also wants to make the record according only to his terms and specifications, including doing all the production work himself, spending over-the-top amounts of money for things in the studio that NBE doesn't want to pay for, and generally "making his own album in his own way."

The problem is, he signed a contract. He signed the contract, fully aware of its terms, and accepted the contract by affixing his signature. NBE, understandably, doesn't want Wintersun to be a black hole of money, so they cut him off (as is their right to do).

The only shitty situation is for NBE. Jari is a fuckup, and refuses to ask or use the help that is offered to him (as a major name on a major label).

I'm bewildered as to why a lot of people herald it as the perfect Melodeath album. It sounds almost exactly like early Children of Bodom to be honest, just with more aggressive drums and a folky atmosphere.

on an unrelated note, i'm listening to this behemoth right now, seems pretty dope so far, I started the listen yesterday, I might finish the album by tomorrow. About halfway done now and About Pride is by far the best song so far.

Glad you came round to it, I really enjoyed straight off, seems similar to Paracletus but perhaps more focussed? I didn't like the fact it seemed way less unrelenting as Paracletus, and overall a bit less chaotic and insane.

>>49093399
It does amuse me that a lot of people actually have to spend a lot of time and effort figuring out what notes the guitars are actually playing on some tracks, as despite being so clear they're so dissonant and lost behind a wave of noise it's not easy heard precisely. Really shows how they mix it.

Totally agree about the production, the way it can switch from being so dense and claustrophobic to sounding a lot more open, lots of space for all the layers to breathe, also the fact that they're a band that understands how effective bass can be when it isn't totally mixed out. Actually their best is probably Sabotage, maybe Master of Reality as a close second.

But I lost those in a flood decades ago.

And now we have new Orange Goblin confirmed this year, the streaming track sounds incredibly like Motorhead unsurprisingly. Should be a great album to blast while driving.

But seriously, you need to listen to Healing Through FIre. I won't make any promises as far as A Eulogy for the Damned goes, while it is a great album it definitely has a huge rock element to it that make some people dismiss it but seriously they are just wrong.

http://www.metalsucks.net/2012/11/06/more-rings-of-saturn-drama-ex-drummer-brent-silletto-shares-his-side-of-the-story/

>The rhythm tracks, meaning the basic guitar riffs, were indeed recorded at full speed, but every single lead and sweep you hear on the album was in fact recorded at half speed and doubled in the studio and then quantized. EVERY NOTE on the album gets chopped and quantized to a click, even after recording at half speed and doubling it. Rings of Saturn would be absolutely nothing if it was not for ProTools and audio engineers allowing them to fake their way to a final product.

Awful fucking band, a black hole which has sucked in so many great musicians. On the other hand it cleared out Chimaira's lineup to be filled by the stupid-talented Daath guys, so thanks for being both Chimaira and Cannibal Corpse's dumping grounds, SFU!

It's a little grating how clearly they cashed in goodwill earned partially by other bands in the USBM scene but they're one of the leading forces bringing hipsters into black metal which is all they ever needed to do for me to love them endlessly.

Listening to pic related.

Black metal about aliens. Don't let the track titles dissuade you from listening to this (the first track is titled 'silent night, alien night' its a god awful name), its really well written and makes good use of synthesizers to give it that sci-fi feel.
