look lets say weve got punk. an artsier and more quirky form of punk is post-punk. now have no wave on the left, and new wave on the right. no wave is more abrasive, less accesible, anti-pop, while new wave is more pop-oriented and commercial form of post-punk. no wave and new wave don't come from post-punk, they're just by its sides. gothic rock comes off post-punk and alternative rock or indie rock comes off post-punk as well

Yeah, definitely.
I particularly enjoy how "Deceit" ends up coming across as a solid concept album about the Cold War with the recurring themes of political unrest and collapse/nuclear weapons.
Plus the more "commercially viable" tracks like "SPQR" and "A New Kind Of Water" are stellar.

"Y" is hard to accurately describe, but I rather enjoy it.
