Yay or nay?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MqZBAq2AdNc
>>48441126sounds horrible
it's alright but i hate how theyre making it obvious that theyre trying to go back to an old sound
much better than the other stuff they have been making lately. it's a little too polished for my taste, but it's nice to see weezer making decent music again
I like it. Excited to hear the whole album now.
it's a shitty version of El Scorcho
that was bad
The melody is weak and unmemorable and the lyrics are poop. This means nothing saves this gratingly basic song from being just trash. It will be a shitstain on the album if the album will actually be any decent.
I like it, alot better than what they've been doing. Was just about to come make a thread, glad to see someone else did. Also i like the cover art.
>KICK IN DA DOE>MOE HAHDCOEwhat the fuck is going on with rivers' accent
booooorrrriiiiiiinnnnnnggggggggg
>>48441220>It will be a shitstain on the album if the album will actually be any decent.Stop deluding yourself; it will be trash, there's no hope of it being any good.
iirc a reviewer said that this was the definite low point on the albumif this is the worst cut, i'm feeling optimistic. i doubt it will be blue or pinkerton levels, but it'll be good
>let's turn up>the radioi dont want to hear that phrase, fucking ever, in any music i listen to, regardless of how "ironic" it is being used
I enjoyed this. Other than it being an obvious radio single, this track has me excited to hear the rest of the album. Why do you guys carry such a negative demeanor about 4 people you've never met?
>>48442794I wanna say it's a play on how Rivers tried to get into pop by saying that shit. But I can't be sure about that.
>>48442747he's gotta force those rhymes somehow
>>48442810weezer did a song where they collaborated with fans on youtube which was called "turning up the radio" so it might be a small nod to that
>>48442810it's mainly the "let's turn up" part that is annoying...and the half pause, and then "the radio" cuz haha, so clever and smarter than all those other guys that use it seriously. sorry it just bugged the shit outta me
>>48442795nigger I love Weezer this song is just terrible
>>48441126instrumental is "okay"lyrics are shit
I like the chorus, but I feel it's too polished and I'm not overkeen on the lyrics or Cuomo's voice5/10
>>48442855Yeah I can understand why it bugs you, I kinda see this song as an apology for the bastard albums where Rivers wanted to mix "Rock" and pop/rock.
I like it
>that short part at 1:52 that sounds like old weezerit's almost like rivers is taunting us
Really liking the sound of it but it's pretty shitty lyrically. Still excited for the album though.
when did Weezer ever just play two chords over and over again ? not even on green album or maladroit . even "Dope Nose" was more musically interesting than this.
it's shit>>48442922is the only decent part of the song
Before Weezer dies I just want them to complete Songs From the Black Hole
>>48442979That was Troublemaker from the Red Album. The lyrics were absolute shit on that song as well and it was the album's damn opening.
Lyrics are a little shaky but i feel like it's a Weezer song made specifically for longtime fans, so many references to old Weezer. Not the best single ever but it has me excited and interested in the new album for sure.
>>48441126terrible
I like it a lot
It's not a great song but if it's the worst song no the album it's gonna be a damn good album. If it's the best song I'd rather listen to Raditude tho..
People who have heard it say it's the worst song off the album, which is actually excellent. so I'm excited considering I thought the song was good
What's even sadder than this track being damn mediocre is how blatantly it announces that the band is now coming back to their "roots" just for fans' pleasure. Really, yet another shit album without any pretension to be something more than just regular late Weezer shit album would be still much better than overtly contrived "rocking out like it's 94".
Every song we've heard from the album teasers has been better than this. Hyped for the album, should be a return to form
>>48443633Don't judge the album based off a lead single. The whole album is supposed to be pretty good, and reviewers who heard it say BTTS is a weird choice for single because there's so much better to choose from
It's not bad, but not great. I'll have to wait and see what else is on there.
>only 300 viewsMy fucking Dark Souls 2 commentaries have more views
the course is pretty catchy. The rest is shit as always
Lyrics are a little bland, but the chorus is good. Dat drum hit before the first chorus is pure sex. It's promising. I look forward to the album
>>48443837r u fuckin retarded
>>48443837
>>48443837average b8
>>48443837>not understanding how youtube comment count works
Raditude BTFO Hurley BTFO Singing shows BTFO
Will you guys bully me if I say I am blasting this right now in my new speakers?
>>48444136Nah m8. I bet it sounds great through good speakers >tfw that drum kick still sounds GOAT even using my work browser
>>48443267The good news is that the insider on all things weezer has heard the album and confirmed it's pretty much the worse. He says the album is great and at the very least everyone should agree it's better than their last few. That said, he enjoyed Hurley more than most, so it's worth taking that with a grain of salt
>>48444313Hurley had some hidden goodness, it was just overshadowed by the dizzying lows of Where's My Sex
>>48442835except door and hardcore already rhyme.
>>48444004>singing shows BTFOi actually lol'd out of my chair
Does anybody notice how much more nasally Rivers got after Pinkerton. If he keeps up this voice on this album it'll probably ruin it for me despite how actually good it is.
>dat 1:50why wasn't the whole song like that
>>48441126Promising.
>>48444589On this song it sounds like they actually shifted the pitch of his voice higher.
Cuomo cannot not write to save his life. How on earth did he create The Blue Album, honestly?
that's embarrassing
It's bad and the lyrics are so cheesy. Can anyone throw back to their old sound without constantly talking about it?
Ehhh sounds terrible, love the album cover though.
>>48444875this
Not bad considering its apparently the worst song on the album.Keen for the rest
>>48442647
>You will NEVER get SFTBH in a completed form
>>48445574This keeps me up at night...
>>48441126could be worse
No matter how many crap albums Cuomo shits out, the Blue album and Pinkerton will always exist. And thishttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-cf1bnEb5Rs
Hard yay
Hopefully this track will just be like an accessible lead single type deal to get people an idea of what the albums gonna sound like. Still like it, but it is a bit too polished for what I would want.
Everything sounded pretty good except for the verses, which were goddamn horrendous.
>>48441126I'm hoping the music will be a return to Pinkerton, hoping.
i don't really know how to feel about weezer anymore, i mean i even liked raditude but I haven't really listened to them since
middle yay
>>48442922thats exactly what i was gonna post. I thought he had completely lost the ability to do anything good but those 10 seconds show that he could pour out pinkerton 2 if he realy fucking wanted to
>>48442922I agree. That's the one highlight of the song. It's Pinkerton level harmonies. The lyrics, though.... what the fuck?
>yaywill it ever end?
1:50 sounded amazing.
>>48446189my nigga.favorite weezer song.demo version is superior mix though. less backing vocals, more guitar.
I had only the worst expectations, their last albums have gotten consistently worse. This new single gives me hope. Musically, i don't like it as much as anything on pinkerton or blue album, but listen to what rivers says in the lyrics, it's a literal, up-front apology for fucking around and selling out with make believe, then over-expanding with the genre bending on the last couple albums.I know it won't be as good as pinkerton, but damnit i think his head's in the right place, and I honestly can't say I'm not hyped.
TAKE ME BACKBACK TO THE SHACKBACK TO THE STRAT' WITH THE LIGHTNING STRAPKICK IN THE DOORMORE HARDCOREROCKIN' OUT LIKE IT'S '94LET'S TURN UP THE RADIOTURN OF THOSE STUPID SINGING SHOWSI KNOW WHERE WE NEED TO GO BACK TO THE SHACKI can masturbate to this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yO_HahRf7HIJust a reminder that Weezer was, twenty years ago, a fucking awesome band. Rivers actually looked like he gave a damn back then.
>>48447424>twenty years agoWell shit. Now I feel old. I think I'm getting too old for /mu/.
Is it just me or does Rivers sound clinically bored? I just listened to Tired of Sex to make sure it wasn't imagining things, but he sounds so fucking dead by comparison. In fact, EVERYTHING sounds dead by comparison. I compared it directly to Tired of Sex but I don't think there's a single song on The Blue Album or Pinkerton that sounds as sterile and monotone as this one. Color me unhyped. I honestly don't think modern Rivers could match Pinkerton era Rivers even if he tried at this point.
>>48447519Several people have already said it, but I think it's more or less the fact that he's just grown up now. Weezer now can never be Weezer of the early to mid 90's. He's just not a fucked up depressed kid anymore. He can't relive those glory days, and he'll always sound bored when trying to do it. What he needs to do is write a positive album about how fucking great life is for him now. I know that sounds cheesy, but he's best when he's being honest. Thats what made TBA and Pinkerton so great.
>>48447617That's true. Like, thinking about it, I'll take anything from him as long as it's genuine. At this stage, I think it's probably the best we can hope for. It'd be cool if he did just a straight retrospective on Pinkerton. Something respectful, but, you know, also something where we can actually see how he's grown as a person and moved on from the teenage angst. Because, the thing is that this track feels just as fake to me as something like Beverly Hills. The only difference is that he's pandering to an audience that's much less likely to eat it up (that is, his original fanbase).
I like it I guess.
>>48447840I feel the same way but I feel like it's partly jsut the track itself because the vocals in the other snippets sound like they have a lot more heart behind them. Back to the Shack isn't meant to be a depressing song its just Rivers proclaiming what he's intending to do and tbh he sounds pretty convincing. Like he knows what he wants and is making everyone know it because fuck them (as evident by the "combative" lyrics)
>>48448060in addition, he also sounds kinda like the nerdy kid he used to be during Blue
>tfw we will never get another pinkerton>tfw we will never hear a complete sftbh>tfw weezer feels
>>48441126It felt uninspired to me. Suffice to say that if the rest of the songs are of a similar quality, I'd be pretty disappointed.
a shitty version of the good life
