That was Troublemaker from the Red Album. The lyrics were absolute shit on that song as well and it was the album's damn opening.

Lyrics are a little shaky but i feel like it's a Weezer song made specifically for longtime fans, so many references to old Weezer. Not the best single ever but it has me excited and interested in the new album for sure.

What's even sadder than this track being damn mediocre is how blatantly it announces that the band is now coming back to their "roots" just for fans' pleasure. I had only the worst expectations, their last albums have gotten consistently worse.

This new single gives me hope. Musically, i don't like it as much as anything on pinkerton or blue album, but listen to what rivers says in the lyrics, it's a literal, up-front apology for fucking around and selling out with make believe, then over-expanding with the genre bending on the last couple albums.

I know it won't be as good as pinkerton, but damnit i think his head's in the right place, and I honestly can't say I'm not hyped.

Is it just me or does Rivers sound clinically bored? I just listened to Tired of Sex to make sure it wasn't imagining things, but he sounds so fucking dead by comparison. In fact, EVERYTHING sounds dead by comparison. I compared it directly to Tired of Sex but I don't think there's a single song on The Blue Album or Pinkerton that sounds as sterile and monotone as this one. Color me unhyped. I honestly don't think modern Rivers could match Pinkerton era Rivers even if he tried at this point.

Several people have already said it, but I think it's more or less the fact that he's just grown up now. Weezer now can never be Weezer of the early to mid 90's. He's just not a fucked up depressed kid anymore. He can't relive those glory days, and he'll always sound bored when trying to do it. What he needs to do is write a positive album about how fucking great life is for him now. I know that sounds cheesy, but he's best when he's being honest. Thats what made TBA and Pinkerton so great.

That's true. Like, thinking about it, I'll take anything from him as long as it's genuine. At this stage, I think it's probably the best we can hope for. It'd be cool if he did just a straight retrospective on Pinkerton. Something respectful, but, you know, also something where we can actually see how he's grown as a person and moved on from the teenage angst. Because, the thing is that this track feels just as fake to me as something like Beverly Hills.
