picked up "Low" and "Double Nickels" on thursday for $20 each and "Nation Time" yesterday for $30
>>48426822>buying music
>>48426870>losing all your music in a hard drive crash
>>48426822This is what i've got over the past few weeks >polyvinyl binge>God Speed>Voxtrot>tfb (picked it up when i saw them live)I also picked up a copy of 3 rounds and a sound-Blid Pilot last friday
>>48426906The HDD plugged into my computer has a backup of my entire library on it, and I have another HDD packed in a box that I update every fortnight.$160 for two 2TB HDDs is still cheaper than buying physical copies where the money only goes to some fat dork at a yard saleI do give my money to bandcamp artists, though
I was at a flea market and got Smash mouth's Astro Lounge and Third eye blind's self titled album for $2. The vendor had Beck's Guero but when I checked it there was no CD :(.
>>48426870>doge>2014
>>48426906Just download it again.>tfw poorfag forever and the best I can do is write music on a CD myself
>>48428060>smash mouthit would actually be more acceptable if you bought that because of the Shrek meme than if you legitimately thought it was good music
>>48426822>Joe McpheeNice, is that the reissue?
>>48428150I bought it because of both. You can't deny that that album was good.
Super pumped with these + pre-ordered the Deathconsciousness reissue
New Rise Against was a limited edition preorder but the album sucked so I might sell it on.
>>48428255Also this pressing of La Nòvia is fucking amazing looking
>>48426822>>LowMan niggah!
>>48428199it wasn't, thoughit's mildly catchy substance-less guff with a frontman that looks like that nerd who always wore flame decal button-down shirts and cheap sunglasses to school got in a horrible teleportation merging accident with a middle-aged trucker
>>48428255Is that AF 7'' from the Pitchfork Music Fest or what?>>48428251>tfw local store had a first issue, promo copy of Suicide's s/t>tfw 100 bucks
>>48426822Is the third one Anthony Braxton? Nice purchases m8
>>48428292Did you not grow up in the nineties? This was the shit back then. Who gives a shit about appearance? If their songs are catchy, that's all that matters.
>>48428322Dude that's Joe McPhee
>>48428317I'd like to understand what is enjoyable about Suicide, particularly the track Frankie Teardropit does a good job of being unsettling, but to me at least, it isn't interesting or enjoyable to listen tois the atmosphere it creates the main draw, or am I missing something?
>>48428278I have the same pressing, it looks really good in person.
>nation timeFUCK YES OP. I LOVE THAT ALBUM
>>48428339I did grow up in the 90s, and I enjoyed Smash Mouth when I was tenI'm not ten anymore, and neither are you
>>48428368
>>48428170Yep, pressed in the UK by Bo'Weavil Recordings
>>48428361You really have to put it in perspective to get the albumThat monster came out in '77. No wave was a little babby, and even the first wave of punk was fresh. It's two people messing with a synth and drums making this extremely close, antagonist, in-yr-face music with sheer aggression. The lyrics, sexual shrieks, etc only add to the close, heavy, almost sweaty vibe of the album. For Frankie Teardrop, it's really the length and extended atmosphere it provides. It's arguably the most sexual "oh jesus christ this is spooky/awkward" track on thereThat's just my take on it though
>>48428446I didn't really think about the extreme intimacy of the album before, but you're absolutely rightit feels like the artists are breathing down your neck the whole time, and you know one of them has a knife
>>48428506Exactly. Vega actually carried around a chain around on stage. They were extremely confrontational live, and it really translates to that albumAlso of course the album paved the way for synthpop, industrial, etc
over the past week
Just got Tortoise - Millions Now Living Will Never Die CD in the mail and OPN - The Fall Into Time LPIf anyone wants the download code to OPN I'll post it, I don't have any use for it since I already have them digitally
>>48428607the seminal nature of the album is also an important thing to note, yeahI still don't think I'll personally like the album, but as a piece of musical history it is definitely important
>>48428699Go back to it every now and then. It may not be for you, but hey bits and pieces may click even more
>>48428758I might give it another go after I finish this albumthanks for the informed and interesting explanation, I love it when I actually get something out of discussions on this shithole
>>48428791I do my best to be useful when it's in my realm/territoryIf you need more context for the album, I'd say give The Stooges - Fun House a listen, and think of Suicide's s/t as a synthesized, minimalist extension of how confrontational that album can get
>>48428045I paid $150 for a 3TB Seagate. I too back up everything on that one and also another one. I don't know how anyone can not think of backing things up.
>>48428889I get HDDs for 30% off because I work at a place that sells themyou better believe I have two redundant backups at all times
>>48428953Nice deal anon, that's an amazing saving. I'd buy SSD's if I had that kind of discount. And I can, it's essential to keep backups. >but tfw something gets erased before you could back it up
>>48428263>rise against Are you a 13 year old version of me?
>>48429028It was primarily a nostalgia purchase. Though naivety in thinking they might release anything decent took over with that one.
>>48427979>tfw when a girl who broke my heart loves Front Bottoms and gave me a shirt and got me into them. Now I can't listen to them anymore
>>48429003I can't wait until SSDs are reasonably priced, I want to upgrade my old shitty desktop PCs hard drive soonit's begun to click and chug in a worrying way way
>>48429103Lol...I feel the same way about jack white's new album.
>>4842682220$s for a david bowie record? pretty sure his shit is 50 cent yard sale, thrift store shit nowadays
>>48429294Same here. I want to get my laptop and desktop upgraded so that they're pretty silent but $200 for just 250GB is too much when I can get at least 3TB HDD's for the same price.
>>48428251jealous of that Xiu Xiu record, where'd you get it?
>>48429418Original UK and Euro pressings of Bowie's Low and Heroes can go for quite a bit actually.
>>48428251Sightings sinews xiu xiu. Nice
