The HDD plugged into my computer has a backup of my entire library on it, and I have another HDD packed in a box that I update every fortnight.
$160 for two 2TB HDDs is still cheaper than buying physical copies where the money only goes to some fat dork at a yard sale
I do give my money to bandcamp artists, though

I was at a flea market and got Smash mouth's Astro Lounge and Third eye blind's self titled album for $2. The vendor had Beck's Guero but when I checked it there was no CD :(.

it's mildly catchy substance-less guff with a frontman that looks like that nerd who always wore flame decal button-down shirts and cheap sunglasses to school got in a horrible teleportation merging accident with a middle-aged trucker

I'd like to understand what is enjoyable about Suicide, particularly the track Frankie Teardrop
it does a good job of being unsettling, but to me at least, it isn't interesting or enjoyable to listen to
is the atmosphere it creates the main draw, or am I missing something?

You really have to put it in perspective to get the album

That monster came out in '77. No wave was a little babby, and even the first wave of punk was fresh. It's two people messing with a synth and drums making this extremely close, antagonist, in-yr-face music with sheer aggression. The lyrics, sexual shrieks, etc only add to the close, heavy, almost sweaty vibe of the album.

For Frankie Teardrop, it's really the length and extended atmosphere it provides. It's arguably the most sexual "oh jesus christ this is spooky/awkward" track on there

That's just my take on it though

>> No.48428506

>>48428446
I didn't really think about the extreme intimacy of the album before, but you're absolutely right
it feels like the artists are breathing down your neck the whole time, and you know one of them has a knife

>> No.48428607

>>48428506
Exactly. Vega actually carried around a chain around on stage. They were extremely confrontational live, and it really translates to that album

Also of course the album paved the way for synthpop, industrial, etc

I do my best to be useful when it's in my realm/territory

If you need more context for the album, I'd say give The Stooges - Fun House a listen, and think of Suicide's s/t as a synthesized, minimalist extension of how confrontational that album can get
