Listened to this earlier today.Very competent worship of the old Come Org. catalog, recommended to anyone who got a kick out of the Forza Albino 12" that came out earlier this year.
>>48390023It's also quite funny at moments, though I suppose angry screaming Brits are funny by default.
I wonder why yesterday's thread got deleted.
>>48390051It got deleted? I figured it just 404'd or something.
>>48390076It was pretty active so unless everyone was saging, it was deleted, and I don't think the OP did. Anyway, I was just curious.
>>48390116Chances are it went over 300 posts and couldn't be bumped anymore.
>>48390116"Yesterday's thread" was started on Monday or whenever and had been running all week. It was at least three days old.currently listening: Orphan Fairytale. I saw SY do a Don't Look Back tour of Daydream Nation and it turns out Orphan Fairytale was the support but I missed her. I am still kicking myself over this.
>>48390157>>48390187I'm talking about this thread.https://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/mu/thread/S48378770I'm familiar with the one that was running pretty much all week.
>>48390223Sorry. My mistake.Noise threads tend to be my favourite on /mu/ by a long shot. Them getting deleted best not become a common occurrence.Anyone bought anything recently?
>>48390023I think that's on Urishma if I'm correct? If so their entire catalogue is amazing, especially Alo Girl.
>>48390298Yep, Urashima. His earlier stuff came out on some other pretty credible labels as well, Corrosive Art, F&V, Unrest Productions and whatnot.
>>48390157No, it died with bellow 300 posts because there was no one to bump it. I woke up that thread being dead, it was really sad and traumatic.
>>48390375I didn't know there was a release on Unrest. One of my favourite labels, especially Shift's releases on there.Gonna throw on the Creation & Space vinyl by Shift now actually (Though it's on AWWFN)
tfw you will never get to listen to tamayodo
Are any of you active on any noise forums?
>>48390809>tamayodoHowcome? It's still for sale through HMV and places like that. Or you could just download it.>>48390854I used to use Iheatnoise/Troniks board but it's deed. Noiseguide isn't too bad.Yourself?
>>48390905I occasionally lurk Pure Stench, Noiseguide and Special Interest but that's about it.
>>48390974I tend to lurk noise boards to see info on upcoming releases. Sometimes take part in gear discussions. I tend to avoid Pure Stench because it can feel a bit pompous, especially when discussing the noisy black metal thing that's going on (like "mysterious guy" HC artists doing BM before it)./
did jason crumer actually rape a girl?
>>48391224in her benis
>>48391073>I tend to lurk noise boards to see info on upcoming releases. That's the main thing, yeah. And it's kinda cool to know that you can interact with the actual artists.>I tend to avoid Pure Stench because it can feel a bit pompous, especially when discussing the noisy black metal thing that's going on (like "mysterious guy" HC artists doing BM before it)./I honestly haven't been checking out the BM/punk sections of Pure Stench that much, mostly because of how one-note those fad subgenres tend to be. The noise section is pretty solid and the non-music related bullshit is occasionally entertaining as well.
How down would /noise/ be for a noise forum made by /noise/ mutants? Been thinking about making a music forum for a while & once i get a job this week or the next, i'd be down for getting a domain & decent forum software thats not myBB or w/e. Not to say we need to stop doing /noise/ threads but a solid website where the posts dont disappear & we dont get random shitposters would be legit.
>>48391577That'd be amazing.
>>48391577it would be dead as hell and ultimately pointless since we're all here anyway every time this has been tried with dance music it's fallen throughan IRC channel would be a better idea
>>48391577I enjoy this form a lot more. It's not important who you are just what you write. With usernames comes reputation which is one thing I often dislike on other social platforms - not to say that there are not good aspects to that too, I just usually see more bad ones.I support the idea if we keep anonymity.
>>48391577That would be really cool but fuck knows how long it would last before everyone forgot about it.
>>48391577If the link to /mu/ isn't overstated as it could put off other folk from coming to the forum. With that said there are enough noise forums already and I don't see what values it would have over these threads. Not that I dislike talking to you guys.Though I'm also inclined to agree with >>48391686 that it'd end up abandoned. Hell even mutracker is barely surviving and that appeals to more than our niche genre. Now if you'd said some sort of /mu/ noise artist bandcamp release...
>>48391819I understand that but also don't. But again, the idea isnt to replace noise threads, but be a more concrete place for both noise musicians, gig creations, & recommendations that dont disappear. The archive is decent enough but not really something i prefer over something that's there 24/7.>>48391686An IRC would be interesting. If i decide to burn enough money, why not have both a forum & IRC.
>>48391977Why not a last.fm group?
>>48392298http://www.last.fm/group/Implying+Noise+Is+Music
>you will never be a bad enough dude to pay 60 Euros for 4 minutes of musichttp://www.discogs.com/John-Wiese-GGA/release/4788716
>>48392298There is one but it needs life my friends http://www.last.fm/group/Implying+Noise+Is+Music
Anyone here listened to this?I imagine so, as it's apparently one of the better HNW albums out there.I wasn't too big on it, but it was leagues better than the other HNW I've listened to (namely The Rita)
>>48392371I've seen some Wolf Eyes lethes go for a lot more than that. There was also one of the Wolf Eyes anti-music LPs (unplayable melted/scratched/destroyed "art pieces") go for loads.Closest I got was selling a Lifelover LP (Pulver) I'd got as a misguided gift. Shifted it for £200 + postage.
>>48392442Why didnt you like the rita?
>>48392442Been meaning to listen to that for a while now.I love The Rita though.
>>48392442It's not bad. No HNW release will ever top Total Slitting of Throats Though for me though.
>>48392472Not enough varation/texture in the noise. It didn't really hold my attention
>>48392522That's the point of HNW though.
>>48392561Maybe so, but I'm saying >>48392442 did hold my attention, and that's why I really enjoyed it
>>48392561That doesn't mean he should like it. It's a valid reason to dislike it if he likes more dynamic noise.
Pretty good listen if you've got an hour to spare.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEn9Majh3Go
>>48392840Mikko worries me. I know the person on the cover of Substitute was of age but there are naked pics of children on the vinyl insert for Black Line. Also his porn collection is ridiculous and in pretty much every format. He had "classic" 8mm beastiality films he was very proud of.
>>48392442Link for this?
>>48393004I really don't know what to think about him, to be honest. He comes off as quite normal and sane in interviews and the posts on his forum(at least the ones I've seen) and the way he's fairly well-regarded and respected in the larger noise scene(you don't see Pasi Markkula putting out a split with Dom Fernow, right?) makes me think he can't be THAT much of a fuck-up, but his actual art still paints a really, really unpleasant picture of the guy.
>>48392350>>48392384What about one that doesn't have a cancerous name?
>>48393336fernow being shit on saddens mei really like himbut back to what you were saying i think making ugly art doesn't draw that much of an assumption of the artist that made it, other than they were willing to actually create it in the first place
>>48391577There is already Maniacs Only and Noiseguide which are the biggest noise forums I can think of, and they are pretty dead. Also look what I did yesterday /noise/ !
>>48393456that's geniusamplify it to distortion and run it through a few pedals, attach it to a conceptual artistic idea and you have a release
I plan to make another one with 5 more spindles based on this design.Wish me luck, because this is probably going to be a bitch.
>>48393368I really like Fernow as well. Getting shat on is just an inevitability of being a relatively popular artist, even in a genre as niche as noise.>but back to what you were saying i think making ugly art doesn't draw that much of an assumption of the artist that made it, other than they were willing to actually create it in the first placeThat makes sense enough, I guess.
>>48393456>Not making a release with a small razorblade near the bottom rendering it only viable for one play.Get on my level. In all seriousness I need to finish up the tape cuttings I've done. All taken from black metal releases. Gonna run it through pedals and use it as source.
>>48393501Thanks. These were actually easier to make than regular tape loops, as I could the spindle placement to the real length of the loop.
>>48393522>making a release with a small razorblade near the bottom rendering it only viable for one play.Did you actually do that ?
Does anyone else buy tape releases? If so, where do you buy from?
>>48393456How do you connect the two ends of the tape together to make a loop?
>>48393603Nah I'm just joking. It has been done before though. The artist that did it escapes me.
>>48393522>>48393633I can't work out whether that's brilliant or ridiculous
>>48393609I do ! I bought so from Diazepam, Metaphysical Circuit (when there was some big sale : $1 a tape, shipping included) and Unseen Forces, traded a bunch too. Sorry for the shitty pic.>>48393632With cellotape. The smallest bit, the better. 5mm long is enough, and try to make it less wide than the tape, or else the glue on the side can stick to the magnetic tape and fuck it up.
>>48393609New stuff/direct from labels:Fag TapesHansonMatching HeadTurgid Animal (distros stuff too)Older stuff/OOP/Distros:TometosaFusetronsoundDiscogsetc.I also have picked up releases direct from artists before, either at gigs or by emailing them.Places never to buy from:James Ferraro directlyAnything associated with GrehVolcanic Tongue ($15 for a c10)
Cannibal Ritual came back recently (2013) and it's great to see one of the best HNW artists of all time releasing newer material.
>>48393633Maybe some release from Auris Apotechary ? He released a tape that is covered in glass shards, along other crazy things like that.http://aurisapothecary.org/AAX-039.htmlPretty... edgy.
>>48393609>>48393716Ma tapes (and some of my CDs/CDrs) taken a few weeks back. There are tapes in audiobook cases behind the one of the far right. I've pretty much run out of space.
>>48393609I buy from Bandcamp fairly often, the prices are reasonable, you get a digital download to listen to while you're waiting for your tape to arrive and it's very convenient what with PayPal and all.
>>48393812I seem to recall it being a Japanoise artist. Came out about the same time as the release encased fully in concrete.
>>48390636nah. i was awake and it was deleted hardcore while I was in the middle of a postwe're in a new age of /mu/ tyranny fellas
>>48394296/noise/ threads are my favourite threads on /mu/ but they're always dead or near death by the time I get to them.
>>48394546They tend to last days because they're bumped so infrequently as to avoid the bump limit for ages.Either way, I'm still here. Anything you'd like to chat about? Also for anyone else here: Recent noise gigs? Best noise gigs? Worst?
Best pedals for making noise?
>>48394715audible diseasehttp://www.effectpedals.us/
I'm really hyped for my wild palms tape to come but he won't ship until after the 22nd anyone else getting one?
>>48395864As erotic as I find the thought of Loke Rahbek jacking off to my nude selfie to be I'm still too self-conscious to do it.
>>48395864I am. Took a bit to work up the courage to take/send a pic but eventually decided I was up for it. Should be interesting.
what do you think about Oxbow? This album is great
>>48396010Yeah I probably wouldn't have if I wasn't drunk off my ass when I did it
>>48396092Oxbow are fantastic. Saw them play a gig with a string section which was wonderful. They also had unearthed vinyl copies of Fuckfest but I couldn't afford to pick one up.
>>48396100>drunk off my assYeah, I was considering getting drunk and doing it like that as well. Still doubt I'm gonna go through with it.>>48396092Excellent band, though they're noise rock, not noise.I've actually been thinking lately that it would be cool to have /noise/ and /noise rock/. There was a bit of an increased interest in noise rock on this board towards the end of last year but it petered out after a while.
>>48396010>>48396039Do you guys seriously think he will fap to the pics or something ? Am I the only one to buy the whole arty concept supposedly behind it ?
>>48396239I don't think he'll masturbate to them. It doesn't make sending a nude pic of myself any less daunting and something I had to work up to.
>>48396227well, sorry if i posted off topic, im not into noise and i didn't thought this difference between noise and noise rock
>>48396227I covered my face and he still emails me back telling me that he'd send me the tape, so if that helps go for it
>>48396334That does help, actually.Guess tomorrow's gonna be a beer day.
>>48396227I think the Noise Rock thing died because there's only so many times people can discuss the same albums at the expense of the rest of the genre. Those threads quickly just became "discuss the most popular and well known noise rock". I posted some Drunks with Guns and Oxbow during a still active thread. Ignored and 3 downloads between them. I also posted the new Brainbombs which was grabbed many times and run into the ground by the next thread.
>>48390400close enough
Any fans of Whitehouse or NON/Boyd Rice in here?I really like the abrasive misogyny of both artists. It reminds me of reading posts on r9k.
>>48397249Whitehouse's misogyny isn't on the same level as NON/BR. Especially since Whitehouse are basically Guardian readers who traded on shock value under the idea that it was transgressive. Boyd Rice, on the other hand, is a genuine prick. From his domestic abuse of Lisa to his thematic obsession with domestic abuse and rape. He's not transgressive, he's not interesting and he's fucking boring. I think ideas of misogyny can be tackled and loads of Power Electronics and Industrial bands do so well (see: Incinerator International, Sutcliffe Jugend and even Navicon Torture Technologies) but Boyd Rice is generally worthless.
>>48397249>It reminds me of reading posts on r9k.Lel.Though Whitehouse's misogyny wasn't really genuine, it was just another way for them to satirize rock music(DO YOU LIKE ROCK 'N' ROLL, etc.). William Bennett played guitar in some feminist post-punk band before forming Come and Whitehouse IIRC.
>>48389701>check youtube links>not 720p/1080pget it together OP
>>48397455I used to be a fan and found his written essays drolly amusing but he is pretty fucking tryhard
>>48397249I love me some Whitehouse, I don't really give a shit about lyrics in anything I listen to, I just like hearing angry people's voices
>>48397519I think he played in Essential Logic.
>>48397738Wikipedia says he did
>>48397455As long as he's still mightily pissing people like you off, I'm set.>>48397723He's not for wimps, granted.
>>48397723His most recent collection of essays is a pretty good read when I need a little /cringe/ in my life.
>>48397827/r9k/ detected in tha house
>>48397827Haha he doesn't piss me off I just tend to be hyperbolic when I post. I just sort of feel indifferent or slightly irked that he allowed himself to stagnate so much. He still has the odd good idea but it's stuck within his "safe" formula. As I mentioned plenty of artists can be misogynistic or deal with misogyny in their work but those that are good at it don't just revel in it and stay put like Rice does.
>>48397827>He's not for wimps, granted. He kinda is though.Rice is small fries compared to artists like Bizarre Uproar and Macronympha.
>>48389701What is this? It's certainly not music
>>48398070hahaha
>>48398070Welcome to noise, newfriend
>>48396227>they're noise rock, not noise.I'm not arguing against what you said but I have been thinking about this statement. At what point does Noise Rock become Noise? For example both Air Conditioning and South Saturn Delta are considered noise rock but both tend to be all out noise simply made using traditional rock instrumentation. I guess my question is: Where do you guys feel the line between the genres is? What genre would you consider either of the aforementioned acts to fall?
Whats some entry level noise, the closest thing that I've listened to is this I think:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qvDesFdOdF8
does /noise/ like free-improv?Here is a local band I've gotten into lately. It's cathartic as fuck.
>>48391577>>48391686 has the right idea. IRC would be easier to moderate and it won't be so fucking dead.
>>48401512I hope the music is better than the cover art.
