ITT: We rate the record stores where we live
>Shake It Records - 8/10
Pretty large selection with some great titles, but the selection doesn't change terribly often. Prices on new titles are fair, but used titles are a little overpriced in my opinion
>Black Plastic - 6/10
Smaller sized store, all the rock records are grouped together, meaning you're gonna have to look through all the used ABBA records while searching for A.R. Kane. Selection is still pretty good though, and prices are fair.
>Everybody's Records - 6.5/10
Medium-large sized store, selection is filled with stuff that's decent, but maybe not worth picking up. Usually can find a gem whenever I go there, though
| >> | No.48238905 >Sonic Boom (Bloor St.) 8/10, good selection of used CDs, slowly turning into Urban Outfitters though >Kops Records (Queen St.) 7/0, overpriced, pretty cool selection of old jazz records upstairs >Rotate This 9/10, gr8 atmosphere, employees are down to earth, inherited a bunch of used records when Hits and Misses next door closed down, also they sell tickets with little to no fees >Planet of Sound (Queen St. East) 3/10, out of the way, in a bad part of town, sell really nice record players but only have a couple ~trendy~ albums for sale at a time |

>Knastret 4/10 Only takes cash. Stock refills once in a blue moon and never with anything good. Vinyl records are cheap but pretty much only your average common garbage. Stock is not that large either. Has a huge selection of CDs that all look old and disgusting, most of my good finds have been here.
Old home town and on and off residence due to friends and family, Stockholm.
>Bengans 7/10 Has most new releases, though never fucking Swans. Recently started with old used vinyl, all complete shit they practically give away for free. Best located in town, smack in the middle. Generally, if they have something from a band it's either only the most popular release for bands with good discographies, or anything but for bands with bad ones.
>Record Hunter 9/10 Has some new releases, with some interesting rare releases. Extensive collection of vinyl records in new or very good condition. Has a whole basement of cheap used CDs, every fourth you buy is free. Has huge stock of super cheap vinyl, a lot of cheap 80s pop crap, but if you dig you'll find some great gems for like a dollar.
>Skivbörsen 7/10 Fucking ridiculous stock, they stack albums and shit literally from floor to the ceiling. Literally any spot you look will be filled with shit. This stuff piles up so much I think a good chunk is actually buried behind other stuff. There are two floors of this madness. This makes the store a bit dusty and looking through it may involve some crawling and physical work, I'll be damned if you don't come out with anything, though. Doesn't take credit, though, and has really bad opening times.
>The Beat Goes On 0/10 Everything is fucking expensive, even if they have something you want, there are three other stores literally on the same street that probably also have it for half the price.
Some other store I don't remember the name of, is right next to all three of the above, though 8/10 Like Record Hunter but smaller, owner is nice.
Follow up coming. |

>Mickes skivor 6/10 Small shop with okay stock, has some of the better output of 70s and 80s. CD stock is too small, but still a complete waste of precious space, you'll barely get around in here. I've only visited in summer time, so I don't know if this is always a problem, but this store is fucking hot as hell, they have a back room filled with singles that I have never gone through just because I can't be assed to from the heat.
>Mickes skivor 0/10 Yes, same fucking store, same fucking name, literally right across the street. I'm not shitting, you can see one store from the other. Is as small as a closet. Stock is so fucking small what you'll find here is way too specific for anyone to actually find it worthwhile. Cashiers fucking stare you down like you're some kind of alien.
>Hot Records 5/10 Your standard record shop, has some new, has some old. Stock, prices, size and everything is super regular here. So boring I almost forgot about it writing this.
Have yet to visit the rest of the stores in this town, I know there are some I've yet to visit. |
| >> | No.48241404 Danefag Living in Randers but shops in Aarhus
>Læsehesten (2/10) Only one located in Randers. Not a record store but has tons of used vinyl. Haven't found anything worthwhile there that wasn't scratched or generally in very very bad shape. The prices are alright though, it's cheap as fuck.
>Stardust cafe (5/10) Kind of a split between coffee bar and record store. Relatively new place. Got a pretty good selection but tons of hipster trash. New records are ridiculously overpriced as well, cba.
>Badstuerock (7/10) Its kind of THE record store in Aarhus. Place is pretty old and has a good rock selection. Lots of punk, psychedelic and garage which i dig. Very cozy place. New records are a bit cheaper than Stardust, but there's really only rock there in the big picture.
>Route 66 (8/10) This is my favorite place. First of all they got a good selection, both new and used. The used section is the best though. On 1st floor theres this room filled (and i mean literally stuffed) with used vinyl. There's everything there. For instance, i dig IDM a lot, and i've found numerous rare stuff from both Autechre, BoC, AFX, Squarepusher, Plaid and so on and so on. Its ridiculous. The prices are based on discogs so i guess theyre kinda fair, but still expensive as hell for the rare stuff (Ae - Amber for 600DKK? No thanks)
There's this hip-hop focusing shop as well that i've heard of but never visited since i cba about hip-hop. |
