Tfw if it wasn't for The Ramones you may have been listening to nu-metal past age 13. Thank god for the Rock 80 compilation I found in my basement that had Do You Remember Rock N Roll Radio? on it, and from there I rented their Anthology from the library and copied it. The good ol' days.

>> No.48205317

>>48205114
A bunch of factors, really/ Dee Dee did heroin like it was candy for a large portion of his life, Joey has that same thing Bradford Cox has, and doctors usually advised against him touring at all, let alone at the constant pace he'd go at, Johnny once had the utter shit kicked out of him a few years ago and had to get portions of his brain replaced (shit was really fucked up) but I don't think that actually affected his death so forget I ever brought that up to begin with. I don't know, man, cancer can fuck you up when you least expect it.

Nowadays it's made to seem like it isn't as much of a big deal as it used to be, but it still is a massive deal. Especially to those who don't take time out to relax and pace themselves. From their twenties until the day they all died, they were touring non-stop pretty much. Those few years they got off from '96 to the early aughts were merely the accumulated day-offs they earned playing all of those gigs. It definitely caught up to them, but I'll be damned if they didn't go out giving as good, if not better, as they got.

>> No.48205319

>>48204154
incorrect. the 'punk' sound had existed some time before Death came about, and they certainly weren't the sole innovators of it.

Old school fans don't usually refer to CJ as a Ramone, but rather a fill-in for Dee Dee. Shit's fucked up considering how he seemed to freshen up their live sets when he stepped in, but that's just how things are.

>> No.48205348

>>48205334

Yeah, he got shit on a lot, especially by Johnny, but he's still a Ramone. He was in a tough situation. Just a fill in for Dee Dee.

>> No.48205370

Yeah, bands like The Stooges, MC5, The Dictators, The New York Dolls. They definitely didn't have a "punk" sound that were huge influences on The Ramones.

Even The Who had the punk sound.
