I wish I actually tried in highschool, joined clubs, and made friends. I mostly just screwed around on forums and chat sites. Only reason I joined math club is because they needed a third member for competition and I was in it in middle school.

I'm not too much better off now, but at least I've found more things that interest me.

It's pretty much what it sounds like. All the schools in the state get one fictional trial, with a backstory of the events (usually it's a civil case), affidavits for witness characters on each side, pieces of evidence. Each school makes a defense and prosecution team, and they have one of their sides go against another school, usually with some sort of actual lawyer or judge presiding. Whoever does the best wins. It eventually goes into the playoffs, where one school's club is named the best.
It was surprisingly fun, and the teacher who coached us was a total smart-ass, so I loved it.

We got to the semi-finals for Maryland twice in the four years I did it, maybe three times. Once you get up to that level though, you have all the rich private school kids whose parents were lawyers or their school could afford to hire actual lawyers to coach them. Other than dealing with the brats on that level, it was fun.
