ITT: Hip Hop with the best productionMy vote, along with MBDTF just because and anything by El-P
>>46529690Most kiddies here don't get 2Pac so you may get some shit, but I agree he has some sick production on tracksAlso, pic related
MBDTF's mixing is a pile of shit, it is barely possible to hear the productionyes on el-p though, The Cold Vein is the goat
Cypress Hill - self titledhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsvXx3pcwMIEverything DJ Premier did with Gang Starr.
>>46529730>MBDTF's mixing is a pile of shit, it is barely possible to hear the productionIt's beautiful (dark and twisted too) in its own right, fits the album well.
>>46529733I love DJ Premier's work with other people but I gave his instrumentals a listen and they were utter shit. Made me disappointed.
>>46529733Black Sunday is also great.
>>46529733>Cypress Hill - self titledpeople forget how good muggs is as a producer. so underrated. Honestly, if Dre hadn't come around, Everybody would have been mimicking Muggs' style on the west coast. His sampling and layering techniques, the way he would alter sounds and pitches, and the fuzz of it all is so good. Dude has mad skills>>46529725Ridin' Dirty has some of the best production evermy choice is pic related. Pete Rock always had choice instrumentals. T.R.O.Y. alone, flipping that Lee Altus sax sample into one of the most memorable melodies ever
>>46529690>shithop
>nobody mentioning eric bits like yall never heard Paid in Full or Follow the Leader
Just does not get better than this. Exquisite production.
>>46529862the perfect synthesis of production and rapping. anybody who doesn't like it can fuck off
>>46529887>>46529862and it's the guy who now makes "Happy"how does /mu/ feel about that
>>46529862I've only given this a few listens but i plan on figuring out the hype someday
>>46529839I do agreePaid in Full is great
DJ Muggs (Cypress Hill) gets mentioned when hiphop sites make lists of producers.Underrated, but not forgotten.Temples of Boom is insanely underrated as an album however.
I believe Take Care by Drake has some top-tiered production His producers are insanely good (Boi-1 da I think his name is?)
>>46529964Drake does get great beats I can't deny that. Headlines and Worst Behaviour have god-tier production
>>46529912How does one go from producing top tier shit for Clipse to being "that guy who sang in Get Lucky"Why is Pharrell even singing? He was never a good singer, it's embarrassing and he's even more embarrassing live.>>46529964Boi-1da always sounded like he was working with pic relatedI guess he has some decent stuff under his belt
>>46530046Who cares man he probably loves it and makes incredible dough. Nonetheless he's working with the highest payed musicians in the world and has insane power in everything he does.
Production isnt a good thing in good rap>36 chambers>illmatic
>>46530046don't just judge him off his coachella stream manI do agree about the transition into pop music, the dude is better as the "r&b singer/rapper" he was in the early 00'sWell he uses FL Studio so there is that >>46529974 http://boi-1da.net/discography/
>>46530141whatever gets the job done i guess. Can't knock someone for their equipment if they use it well
>>46529964NWTS has better beats in my opinion, you can't beat Pound Cake.
>>46529725super tight has better beats
>>46530123>Production isnt a good thing in good rapWhat in the fuck are you talking about?Illmatic has great production by the way.
I wouldn't say he's the best or even that great, but I like hitboys product, especially on Goldie by asap Rocky. It's not that complex or in an odd time signature or bpm, but it sounds interesting. If I knew more about actual production, I'd try to explain what sounds good about it, but I can't, so I won't.
Yung Gud
>>46529914i don't think i'll ever figure out the hype.
HIP HOP WITH THE BEST PRODUCTION IS FUCKING STUPID AND SO IS EVERYONE IN THIS THREAD
>>46529690>>46532314lel
black mist had fantastic productionthese days, anyone can sound good rapping with knxwledge producing. dj paul has always been a favorite as well. his darker shit just as the dj paul and juicy j/lord infamous duos is great. can't wait for him to remaster come with me to hell 2. catch a blast and front page had such good production but sound like a fucking poverty tape these days.
>>46533065>black mist had fantastic productionThis so much. One of my favourite tracks from Raider Klan.

Spark Master
I can't make it through All Eyez on Me. Too long and too much filler.
>pic related
Though I don't like the album much, kanye wests "college dropout" had some seriously sweet production.
I get that lots of people hate his rapping, but you can't deny that pic related had some fucking amazing production.>>46529690
anyone who thinks gucci is off his game has not been listening to gucci
One of the best produced albums. Just dark, spacey, and slamming
>>46537119tru
How was this not mentioned
I don't even what does "good production" even mean
>nobody mentioned DonutsHoly fuck
>>46538720>ITT: Hip Hop with the best production>best
Listening to Food And Liquor by Lupe Fiasco right now (the first one) and the production is fantastic but his rapping is pretty mediocre.
>>46530123But Illmatic is so great because of it's production. This is proven by the fact that Nas rapped even better on his later work, but they weren't as good because of the weaker production. Also, 36 Chambers may have had minimalistic production, but you cant deny it made it so much better, especially on CREAM, Wutang Clan Aint nothin to Fuck With, and 7th Chamber pt2
>>46535796YA LIKE IT?
>>46539389It's an instrumental album, so all there is is production. Secondly, it's been talked about to death. It's like Madvillainy, yes it's probably one of the best hip-hop albums of all time but everyone knows that so there's no point in bringing it up every time.
whitboyz cant into zion ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZUFxgvk0n0
>>46529690>anything by El-Pmah nigga
>>46541422also this mafuckerhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiuEFG0ZBd8
>>46530123illmatic had top notch production you dweeb part of the charm of 36 chambers is the gritty dirty beats that help paint the picture of that hard ,ghetto housing project lifestyle that would make the typical white person shit their pants
>>46541494>>46529690ma nigshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnC9MEM3TGY
>>46529690el p's best work
>>46529690
>>46530123i have to agree to the point where the production shouldn't over shadow the rapper
>>46541923didn't see that one coming
>>46541967>shadow the rapper>>>/2006/
