He was riding: on a street car about 5:30 when he noticed a negro man and woman quarreling out in the street, so he jumped off the car to investigate. He found they were in a dispute over a gun. and this he took away from the woman, but as he did so the negro drew another revolver on him and commanded the officer to throw up his hands. This he promptly did, and the negro commenced retreating down Bock Island avenue until he got to some box cars and then broke and ran. Officer Wright took three shots at him without effect, which drew Officer Gunsaulus to the scene, and they both followed the negro to a house where they cornered him inside and got the drop on him.X Judge Wall gave the negro. C. W. Kuntz, a fine of $100 for carrying concealed weapons. After Officer Wright was held up the police arrested all the negroes they could find in the vicinity of Bock Island and Douglas avenues, where the hold-up happened."
