What turn table do you have?
do you even grammophone
>>45815677i do
I'd love one. Saving up for one though
Audio Technica LP-160. Generic as fuck but gets the job done
An old early 80's Sherwood- now defunct I'm guessing. Needs a new cartridge.

I need something cheap, would this do the job?http://www.amazon.co.uk/Steepletone-Record-Player-Turntable-Improved/dp/B002XII4JG/ref=sr_1_1?s=receiver-speakers&ie=[plen]UTF8&qid=1355165072&sr=1-1
>>45816799jesus god nopls dont buy that
>>45817056How much should I spend?
>>45816799This would do the job... of waisting your money, causing embarrassment to you when people come over and sounding so shit it puts you off buying a proper turntable for a few years.Do some research before you buy
>>45817302That's what I'm trying to do, research. What do you rec?
>>45817256the truth is you cant do vinyl on a really low budget. those all in one record players with amps and speakers built in are really no better than toys. they wear your records much faster than a good quality deck and sound terrible. if you bought the right stuff 2ndhand from ebay you could get a record player, an amp or receiver and a pair of speakers for about £180-200. any cheaper and it really not worth doing. if you wanted to buy new you'd have to add another ~£150, minimum.
>>45816599I'm a fucking idiot. LP120
>>45817359i recommend something japanese from the mid 70's onwards. As nobody has yet said it i'm going to "technics sl1200 or sl1210" I recommend something with an s shaped tone arm with a SME fitting for convenience ( don't get a p mount cartridge) Go fully manual and if you go for a direct drive over a belt driven or idler turntable then get one which is quartz locked rather than servo controlled. Also mot people (even those with an interest in turntables) don't know shit all about them
>>45817596I'll stick to CDs
>>45817895
I have a Pro-Ject Debut III. I like it. I rarely use it though, because I mostly listen to CDs and mp3s — cheaper, cleaner sound, no need to change sides, very few bad surprises. I mostly use my turntable for vinyl-only releases.
Dual 1219. Gonna have to take it out of commission for a little bit soon while I try and fix a mechanical issue. Probably just needs to be greased and maybe the steuerpimpel needs replacing.
>>45818158I no longer have my crap set up this way but the MCS 6603 in this picture was my first turntable and now serves as a backup.
Linn Sondek LP12Get on my level.
still using my old pioneer pl-990
>>45817536Is it good?

this shits right here
Just fixed up my dad's old Pioneer PL-117D. Too lazy to take pics. Had to replace the belt and needle, works great now.
>>45821005i bet that was a difficult fix.
Dual CS 607
>>45821030Yes, it took me all of five minutes. Absolutely harrowing.
>>45821210i feel your pain
>>45820675Thanks. I was looking at the at-lp20 and it's not far out of my price range. Anyone know if it's worth buying?
Technics SL1200 MK2 & Nagaoka MP-110 CartridgeGoing to get a 1/4 inch rubber slipmat and dustcover soon.
>>45821575Yeah, it's the best new turntable you can get for under $300.
I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP60 that I picked up for $60 off Amazon. I have just been using the stock cartridge and stylus that came with it. Is it decent to play my records with or should I invest in something else. I've been very pleased with the results so far.I have a Sherwood receiver back at my house that I have yet to couple with the turntable.
>>45821806LP60's are only good as gifts to people you hate and to fill up trash bags.>I have just been using the stock cartridgeWe know, you can't change the one that's on it.
>>45816799>I need something cheapThe only good turntable you can get for cheap is an old used one. If you want a new turntable that doesn't sound like shit and won't destroy your records then you'll need to spend at least $200 on it. >>45820675 has some very important guidelines for what to look for in a turntable.
>>45821899I didn't even know that. So, what should I do. Start saving up for a better player. I'm not just gonna give up on vinyl because my player sucks.
>>45821970>So, what should I do.I'd say your best course of action would be to start researching.
>>45822011ok, what I really need help with is speakers. Where should I go for that?
>>45816799Either save up your money to get an AT-LP120 or look around your local record stores for a used turntable. I got my turntable from my local record store. It sounds good, has adjustable counterweight and anti-skate, you can change the cartridge and it only cost $100.
>>45822032
I got a Crosley tech turntatle CR6005a. Very cheap, but plays vinyls perfectly and very small, perfect for a apartment.
>>45822129
technics sl-qd2it's effing awesome and the guy even threw in an lp cleaning kitall for ~$130, preamp was like an extra 40
I have a technics Sl-5 DD turntable. Picked it up for $40, bretty good.
>>45822338technics players are god-tier for how much they're sold forgot a pic of yours?
It is actually nice for the price, despite the 'usb' labeling on it.

I haven't gotten a record player yet, what do I need (except for the record player) if I only use my headphones to listen? im talking amps or whatever
>>45823668absolute minimum would be a phono stage and a headphone amp but you might as well buy a 2ndhand amplifier or receiver with both of those built in, it wouldn't cost much more, if any, then you can add speakers later when cash or circumstances allow
>>45822129I really hope this is bait. If it's not, you're destroying your records by using that piece of shit.
>>45823668a styles on a cartridge headshellmaybe the leads+ >>45823755
i have an Akai ATTU1 and some Philips speakers + receiver.
Technics SL-B2, I got it for like $60 bucks off of Ebay in brilliant condition.
>>45823847It plays records perfectly, I don't know what your talking about and mine hasn't shown any sign of destroying records. It's very good for a 70$ player.
who /sansui/ here
>>45824807The tonearm on it doesn't have an adjustable counterweight so the full weight of the tonearm is being pushed down on your records which wears out the grooves 10x faster.
>>45822129>>45824807See >>45820675
>>45825119looks hella sweetFR-D35 here i lreally ove it
>>45825130As long as it plays records and doesn't show signs of physical damage I don't give a shit. It hasn't shown any signs of damage, once it does I'll get a new one. It's good for the price.
x2 technic 1200s and AT-LP120 for upstairs
Anyone know any record players that have a built in speaker? I usually see them in portable record player units
