the truth is you cant do vinyl on a really low budget. those all in one record players with amps and speakers built in are really no better than toys. they wear your records much faster than a good quality deck and sound terrible.
if you bought the right stuff 2ndhand from ebay you could get a record player, an amp or receiver and a pair of speakers for about £180-200. any cheaper and it really not worth doing. if you wanted to buy new you'd have to add another ~£150, minimum.

i recommend something japanese from the mid 70's onwards. As nobody has yet said it i'm going to "technics sl1200 or sl1210"
I recommend something with an s shaped tone arm with a SME fitting for convenience ( don't get a p mount cartridge) Go fully manual and if you go for a direct drive over a belt driven or idler turntable then get one which is quartz locked rather than servo controlled.
Also mot people (even those with an interest in turntables) don't know shit all about them

I have a Pro-Ject Debut III. I like it. I rarely use it though, because I mostly listen to CDs and mp3s — cheaper, cleaner sound, no need to change sides, very few bad surprises. I mostly use my turntable for vinyl-only releases.

I have an Audio-Technica AT-LP60 that I picked up for $60 off Amazon. I have just been using the stock cartridge and stylus that came with it. Is it decent to play my records with or should I invest in something else. I've been very pleased with the results so far.

I have a Sherwood receiver back at my house that I have yet to couple with the turntable.

The only good turntable you can get for cheap is an old used one. If you want a new turntable that doesn't sound like shit and won't destroy your records then you'll need to spend at least $200 on it. >>45820675 has some very important guidelines for what to look for in a turntable.

Either save up your money to get an AT-LP120 or look around your local record stores for a used turntable. I got my turntable from my local record store. It sounds good, has adjustable counterweight and anti-skate, you can change the cartridge and it only cost $100.

absolute minimum would be a phono stage and a headphone amp but you might as well buy a 2ndhand amplifier or receiver with both of those built in, it wouldn't cost much more, if any, then you can add speakers later when cash or circumstances allow

The tonearm on it doesn't have an adjustable counterweight so the full weight of the tonearm is being pushed down on your records which wears out the grooves 10x faster.
