While there are many vague interpretations of it, rockism is essentially believed to treat rock music as normative. From a rockist view, rock is the standard state of popular music. Notice, it says nothing about taste or even being a fan of rock music, but to treat it as the norm for popular music. Therefor, I COULD call a classical or soul or pop fan a rockist if they were acting as such. Of course it has to do with rock music, but it has nothing to do with thinking it's the centre or peak of music as you claim. Rockism is a funny word and I'm tired and want to sleep. Can just agree that it's a weird and leave it at that? |
