If you start with Apostrophe and don't like it much try his Mothers albums, the humour on Apostrophe is different that the Mothers albums.

Fillmore East '71 is what I started out on. I don't know if I dun goof'd or not, but it's great. Really gives you a feel for what Zappa and his crew were all about.

Sart with the Mothers stuff, go chronologically from Freak Out! to Weasels Ripped My Flesh, but you can skip Ruben and the Jets if you want.Also his solo stuff is good, start with Lumpy Gravy, Hot Rats, Waka/Jawaka and grand Wazoo, and then a bunch of his other material is worth listening he has a pretty massive discog
