What are you spinning tonight /mu/?
yarn
Not that shit!
Ah, I remember being in college. Then I realized that vinyl was just too much of a hassle irl so I just went to digital
>>45258691i'm spinning your mother on my dick
>>45258789bruh I make this thread almost every day. I'm about that life.I've been collecting records since I was 15. I'm 23 now.I'm about that life.
>>45258823I dont think so
>>452588088/10chuckled
I have the debut 3 too op, get a new fucking cartridge.
Seeing him next week.
>>45258895its an Xpression III and the cartridge is an Ortofon 2MRed
>>45258931pls get a new turntable, pls for ur own good
big kids - hoop dreamsunfun - shors of lake eriemuhammadali - future songs
>>45259344I'm not that guy but why does /mu/ go fully autistic whenever somebody is using a turntable that is not among the chosen few?If he likes it for what it is, then fucking let him. Even Crosleys aren't as bad as /mu/ is convinced they are. Yes they wear the vinyl more but it's a LONG fucking process. Long enough that the record isn't unlistenable before you get bored of the record. Even with the shittiest tt's this is the case. Chill the fuck out a bit about tt's /mu/.
>>45258958Nice, great album.
>>45259521God bless you, anon
>>45259344Was a gift. Don't feel like shelling out for a new one.>>45259521This. It plays well, gives me no problems, and my albums are old and beat up for the most part, anyhow. Typically I'm at my computer for music, anyhow. I really just break out the table for when I've got people over or feel like ignoring it for a while. (I skip tracks digitally).
>>45260155OG press?
>>45260155doesn't look like you're spinning that tonight. looks like you're laying it on a blanket.
Can somebody explain to me what they get out of collecting vinyl?
>>45260325tons of music, some of it not available on any other format.
>>45260325enjoyment
>>45260365So you only collect things that aren't available in other format?
>>45260325what do you get out of collecting cum rags?everyone has their little niche
>>45260387No, but they are the one I am mostly looking for.
>>45260371Well obviously I assumed that, what I was asking was why is it enjoyable. What is the reason for the enjoyment.
>>45260325>Can somebody explain to me what they get out of collecting [something I don't care to collect]?
>>45260371This. It's hard to explain but it makes my life a bit brighter
>>45258931The Pleasure Principle is better, and you know it.
>>45260325For me I enjoy that it is a fundamentally different format/experience than digital files. I stopped buying CDs years ago and haven't looked back because you can rip a CD onto your computer and the digital file is essentially EXACTLY what is on the CD. You can pirate EVERYTHING on a CD for free on the internet. You can't pirate a record, however. Plus they are just more interesting physical objects.
>>45260325i like the sound, i think for certain albums the sound is richer and more balancedit also makes me feel better about not buying music digitallyalso dat large artwork
>>45260399Well why do you have the things that are available in other format?
>>45260444You can rip a record to your computer though.Besides not everything is available on vinyl.I think collecting CDs is just as cool as collecting vinyl records.
Too lazy to take a picture, but I just bought Pavement's Slanted & Enchanted on vinyl today, so that.
>>45260325Theyre fun to collect i think. I like digging through record stores and finding new music that way. I like the packaging, artwork, etc. Plus i just like to collect things.
>>45260466>You can rip a record to your computer though. That's not an argument. You rip it into a digital file. it is an IMPRESSION of what is pressed on the record, completely dependent on the rippers turntable/needle/cartridge/tonearm/soundcard/ripping process etc. It could sound COMPLETELY different ripped by a different person.a CD, however, is essentially the exact same product no matter who rips it (so long as they rip in the same format)
>>45258931lol I have the same turn table
Why the fuck would you take the plastic cover off your record player? It's going to get all dusty and shit now. Stupid bitch!
>>45260284Yes it is
>>45260466>Besides not everything is available on vinylThere is objectively scores more music available on vinyl than there is on CD
>>45260448because I'm a fag and I like to have things that are tangible. Also I like "long time investments" and until you can point me a computer that will work for 60 years straight,or a hard drive that stays functional for that long,I'll still think that my records are more reliable.some of the stuff I have is 80 years old and still plays well.
>>45260444Aren't you worried that you're creating a dichotomy between two forms of listening that result in your inability to enjoy music in any other format? By creating a ritual your enjoyment may become reliant on the ritual itself (like a drug addict who can only feel pleasure through ingesting drugs). Also does it at all concern you that you are hoarding physical objects because they look pretty?
>>45260536Does that nullify that statement? Not everything is available on vinyl.
>>45260535beauty
>>45260535nice
>you will never own Mista Thug Isolation on vinyl with the glow in the dark posterHonestly what is the point of living
>>45260559>Aren't you worried that you're creating a dichotomy between two forms of listening that result in your inability to enjoy music in any other format? By creating a ritual your enjoyment may become reliant on the ritual itself (like a drug addict who can only feel pleasure through ingesting drugs). No, because I listen to CDs in the car and I listen to my ipod on the bus. When I'm at home I like listening to my records though.>Also does it at all concern you that you are hoarding physical objects because they look pretty?Any record collector who tries to deny this is a fool. I have records that I fucking LOVE looking at because they are beautiful. I also own paintings for that very same reason. I don't see a problem with it.
>>45260483This. The chase is pretty much half of the fun.also another good thing about collecting records is that it helps you build some musical culture more than simply looking for digital files. because if you want to find some new stuff, you need to know the labels, some producers, be able to recognize the name of somestudios in order to know if a record you did not listen to will be interesting for you.of course, you can learn this online, but that will mostly be some wikipedia or discogs browsing, and because of that, you might forget it, while you need that knowledge if you go digging for records.
>>45260625>You will never own Misa Thug isolation on cassette eitherI wish I knew what keeps me alive...
>>45260625>Having Nostalgia Ultra on vinylaw you sunuvabeetch i love frankie o
>>45260832>tfw one time late night on /mu/ someone was ripping mista thug isolation from cassette>tfw had work the next day so couldn't just stay up and wait for itI'm going to search for it in the archive now>>45260855That isn't me I just found a pic of Mista Thug Isolation on vinyl
>>45260876Wait... what?Owning music on cassette is bad enough, but wanting your digital music to be ripped from cassette?Don't you just enjoy music? Do you have to jerk yourself off over listening to it in the most unique way in order to enjoy it?
>>45260855Too bad it's a bootleg
>>45261104It's not like I'm gonna replace it with the FLAC version I got from bandcamp...I just think it'd be neat to have the cassette rip too.I found it btw>>/mu/thread/S40258159#p40260229>>/mu/thread/S40258159#p40260934
>>45261106Is that a technics SL-BD?...how did you get it to work?
>>45261307Yup, it was fully functional when I bought it $175
>>45261354Meh. guess mine was just broken to start with. The arm never went down correctly, so it's pretty much impossible to use.
>>45261382This one will grind the needle against the spinning surface when a 45rpm is finished.
2edgy5me
>>45258958mah nigga

>>45258958>lagunitas IPAgreat choices all around.
>>45261179Where is Wishmaster
>>45262839>clouddead is triple lp>all shoved in one sleve\fucc
>>45262886>3 LPs in one sleeveI think the Earth 2 3xLP does this as well IIRC
>>45262637Moving on...
>>45262778>implying that extra room for the grooves is a bad thing.Lol. would you rather it be scrunched onto 2 and sound even worse?
>>45258931My old man had one of these all-in-one turntables. Sounded like shit, played at the wrong speed (slightly faster), sounded like the needle was digging through the grooves. Thank goodness I made him buy a better one (ATLP-120), man the improvement was this much.
>>45261758>Crowley>edgyHe was just an average occultist, why do people think he was satanic? Because of Ozzy Osbourne?
>>45264622it sounds like shit on three anyways i might as well not have to get up every 10 fucking minutes to flip it
>>45261106Nice, found from some guy and he said it was purple but it came in the mail and it wasn't purple. I got partial refund though. Nice choice.
