That's actually not true at all. If you just take the time to study basic theory you can pretty easily make compositions on par with most "composer" composers. In general, the more abstract your definition of "good," the harder it will be to absolutely satisfy it and the easier it will be to somewhat satisfy it.

I didn't even think about solo recording until I remembered Nathan Williams did that for his first two Wavves albums. They weren't my favorite but he was able to get along down the road and make some really neat stuff.

I'm still debating on getting a TASCAM DP-006 Digital 6-track, or a laptop and recording through FLstudio. I got awhile to go though...gotta get better at guitar. Can't even afford much right now anyway.
