Can we get some music stories going?
Ever play in a band? School choir?
How did you get into music?
I've got a few.
>2003
>Sophomore Year, never really been into any kind of music
>New Literature Class, teacher is an eccentric maniac
>All about life, finds the meaning in everything, looks for a depth in puddles, classic college professor
>Absolutely loves the Beatles, quotes them constantly and has toys, books, everything
>He takes a liking to me since everyone else in the class was a high functioning retard who couldn't into books
>Lends me some books on the Beatles, urges me to borrow his CDs
>Finally do
>fastforward to now
>Full fledge Beatles fanboy, own toys, books, lunchbox, love most of their works

I wish I had those types of teachers. All of my high-school teachers were those "obviously just following a textbook" types. There were a couple exceptions but it felt too weird to talk with them like they were your friend or something. Now it's university and there are some actually cool professors who I think would tell me some very profound things but myself I'll probably just end up sounding like a retard to them.

>sing well in the forced music class in Elementary school
>go to Middle School choir
>filled with 60 girls, count 3 boys
>Mr. Haddox is an absolute bro-tier teacher
>50 years old, bara mode
>Makes the 3 guys feel like the best singers
>Sing the loudest of the 3 guys
>Combine with the 7 other boys in higher grades for concerts
>Stay in choir till High School
>High School choir is taught by Haddox again, but is insanely smaller class size wise
>rehearse with seniors, they blow me the fuck out in terms of singing
>painfully obvious how pleb I am due to 10 people rehearsals
>quit in 10th grade and never look back
Had fun with it, anyway.

I was in a series of bands in high school that usually had the same core dudes (myself and my friend) and other people. I usually played drums, but occasionally I played guitar.

We weren't that great but I still had a lot of fun. I look back at those days and the random memories make me smile.

I swear to God, the man was a gift from God.
>Constantly made racial jokes, but defended them by going off on a tangent about society and why they're funny
>Constantly gave me his VHS copies of Carl Sagan's Cosmos series to watch
>We'd just hang out after school on Thursdays and bullshit around about Astronomy
>He took "those kids" (the retards who do nothing but talk, have no friends, ect) and threw them out of the classroom for being disruptive all the time
>Absolutely favored me in group discussions, would always say "Anon, you're pretty insightful, what do you think?" and made me feel super smart
I'll miss him when he goes.

Just local things. I played at least two battle of the bands at my high school and we played some random shows at parks and coffee shops/those teenage hangout places in cities in my area. We played in my friend's backyard during a party a couple times. For some reason we played at a church or two.

The only semi (and I mean barely) legit thing we did was one time we played at this shitty hipster warehouse in Flint back in 07/08. I remember it because it was super hot and I was soaked with sweat.

Just imagine a bunch of teenagers who didn't completely suck but also clearly weren't going to make it. Our repertoire was at least 50% covers.
