Hey mu, I asked yesterday about introductory metal, some shit was decent, some wasn't.When you mentioned your favourites however, it had a very dark sound (not the theme, that is ok), I mean dark as in bassy.Do you have more trebble oriented /mu/core metal?
>>44262746What sort of stuff did you like? I could give you some recs based on that.
>>44262840But I don't want you to laugh at my pleb babbys first tastes So let's rephrase it, it wasn't suggested yesterday, mind, but I'm listening to hybrid stigmata by Dimmu Borgir and I don't find it pukeworthy.Gonna try slayer now.
>>44262746only raw black metal would be anything even close to what you wantheaviness is a fundamental part of real metalyou can listen to clown shit like EU power metal i guess
>>44262960Give me a shot then, see if I like it
>>44262903Righto. These are more riff driven, though don't focus on bass. If you like Slayer, check these.>Anthrax - Among the Living>Suicidal Tendencies - s/t>Amebix - Arise>Pig Destroyer - Prowler in the Yard>Converge - Jane DoeThese are black metal, and have some of the symphonic elements of Dimmu>Keep of Kalessin - Armada >Emperor - In the Nightside Eclipse>Dark Funeral - Secrets of the Dark Arts>Satyricon - Now, Diabolical
>>44262960I think that what he meant was that there was a lot of bass in the music he was rec's. I'm guessing it was a lot of Sludge and Doom
>>44262984Eh more than symphony I'm looking for TREBLE, it can have symphony or not
>>44263016Well that first list should cover treble. What kind of music do you regularly listen to out of interest?
>>44263046Rock mostly, Hendrix especiallyLong ago, I used to listen to some metal, so I'm sure I'm going to enjoy myself, I just never got that much deep into it.
>>44262984>SatyriconWell, they do it for me

>>44263274Very easy to listen, yes
Anyone else like Blotted Science?Instrumental Prog/Death Metal.
>>44263290That album is a great start then. If you're looking for trebly music, you'll want to look at thrash metal. Very well know for turning treble up to 10 on amps and then cutting the mids. Some people find it annoying, but I really like the 80's thrash guitar tone. Avoid stoner and doom if you dont like anything too bassy.
>>44263300what's one song I should look up to convince me to listen to a whole album?
>>44263344http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHAUQNTwYZoAlso it's actually a metal 'supergroup' so to speak. Members of Obscura, Nile, Cannibal Corpse, Lamb of God, Watchtower, Necrophagist have all been part of it.

>>44263679ew so he got around to reviewing it. So as a person who usually reserves themselves to kvlt shit this was surprisingly tolerable. Much less bombast than I'd expect, even a few nice moments. A less offensively overt approach to songwriting apparently translates to mature development, at least when they don't have those absolutely obnoxious fucking blast-beats up front. Feels informed of orthodox stuff too which is interesting I guess. It's at least a step up from the other shit.

>>44263607No, that's not filthy, that's just beastly
>>44264115It was a bit of a structural mess, You shined in the thrashier/groovier parts of the track but would often shift into a segment that seemed completely out of place. I wasn't a fan of the guitar tone but I think that also falls in line with my previous criticism, a shorter, simpler track would really be the better way to go in my opinion. A big problem with a lot of up and comers is that they try to be too ambitious with their writing and try to incorporate too many different influences at once making a mess.

>>44264115This is pretty decent. Lots of great riffs in here, though you could probably break the song up into two different ones and they'd work heaps better. That slower stuff at the beginning would make a great sort of doom metal piece though.

The best track on Apnoe was Soil, I think. The bass during the chorus and the male vox in the vocal harmony was beautiful but, there was something that Angst had that Apnoe doesn't. >>44264115I don't like the production very much, are the drums programmed? I would try another guitar sound as well. Like others said, the riffs are cool and everything. but the song is a bit too complicated. Like after the first fast part, it gets slow again. I think it would feel more natural to do some kind of interlude and then go back to another fast verse or something. So my advice would be to think simpler. I have the same problem myself while writing songs, once I have one part, i always hesitate to go back to it. It feels like it would be too repetetive. But in the end, it makes my songs sound disjointed. So i'm working on that as well. Not putting too many different things into the same song.

>>44272170Well 2014 is the ten year anniversary of SMRC. They might release a deluxe super pro remaster version of it.
>>44272388I completely understand. If it's metal start to finish, then it's a no go album. However, if it's a metal album with elements of other things, it won't get lost in all that tedium. If it's half metal, half acoustic, it's approachable. Even if it's 80% metal and 20% other. It's still ok. It's just this whole ALL metal thing is a bit too much. I think I need more than one type of vocals now on album. If it's all the same sort of scream start to finish, I still feel a little iffy about it. It needs a balance.
>>44272494I loved Yes Monumentum Requires Circumsize but, the artwork in the booklet was balls. So, you're probably right. May even be a super pro ultimate deluxe remaster version turbo 3000.
>>44272303>>44272458Or maybe Ash Pool, come to think of it.A lot of their material, like most of World Turns On Its Hinge, is focused on sexual domination and fetishist fantasies. You could even play some Hexis, whose most recent album takes you step by step through an exorcism, if that's yo thang.

So I'm trying to upload some meal, but Mega is giving me dick and telling me everything is perpetually queued - even though I've only one upload up.Anyone experience something similar, or are the seditious geniuses of the cultural imperialists of the United States of America on to me?
>>44272920Mate, I've been trying to upload a Wolves in the Throne Room LP since >>44270779 It got to about 44% or something, then next time I looked it was at 35%.Then to 0%. It kept that up for ages and now it's at 68%. I know the problems all too well.
>>44273024Which album? I probably have it uploaded already.
>>44273024Sheeeeeeit.Although what I'm experiencing is like a refusal to upload anything. Like, I'll boot my pc and log on to the internet and open Mega as the first thing, but it still says I have uploads queued and Chrome agrees, saying I've file transfers pending.Goddamn Blizzard fix.
Is there anything out there that sounds similar to this album? I'm not too fond of Sigh's other stuff.
>>44273095Two Hunters. Not a shitty vinyl rip. As much as I love the sound of vinyl, I think vinyl to mp3 is garbage. Hurrah! It's just done there.Wolves in the Throne Room - Two Hunters>https://mega.co.nz/#!REU3QJwL!ppt_B9jX7pPRhfhU0Zlg-X1W1vAKmsBhvjF_qIv5_XcHere you go scamp.>>44266667
>>44273109Try a different browser. I'm using Torch.
jesus you all need to grow up
>>44273789I really trolls would actually try.
>>44273843Or at least switch it up a bit from time to time.
This is music for comlplete and total utter fucking weirdos.Mossenek - Sublingual Glossectum>https://mega.co.nz/#!ABUn2TIA!WbEebDm1dXW_zhg9YPsVZC0jV4oqKzRQnpyV-HKeXXkIt's something something metal. Dunno what though. Listen to track 2, you'll know what I mean.Fearless Iranian From Hell, what would you call this?>>44273789Terrific input.

>>44273649>TorchI've been considering this. Do you use it over Chromium or something of that ilk?
>>44273941Nope just. Torch browser. he reason I use it is for the media downloader. I can download YouTube videos, Tube8 videos, download bandcamp stuff as well. It's just great. Why, what's Cromium?
>>44274043Basically Chrome, and Torch is apparently based on Chromium. Either way it doesn't seem to fix my problem with Mega, so fuck it.
>>44274142Just try Torch on its own. It works fine with me. Also, Torch doesn't work when I use Crome. Maybe that has something to do with it?
>>44273888Honestly it kind of reminds me of De Magia Veterum except with lots of really weird pedals and filters. I don't really know, it is certainly unique, not my thing though.
