are there any artists similar to radioactivität electronic-era Kraftwerk?
On this topic, I have an interdasting question for /mu/:So, considering that 'electronic' isn't a genre... what is early-era Kraftwerk stuff referred to? A lot of their work is synthpop, but it's simply not fair to write off Autobahn, Radioactivität, Trans-Europa Express or Computerwelt as synthpop. I don't think it's techno, and it's certainly not house. It's not IDM. Some people might call them industrial, but not in the traditional sense.Since I've had it hammered into me by /mu/ that "electronic isn't a genre" - how do you classify this stuff?
>>43388654how in the fuck is electronic not a genre? have you ever heard some of the other bullshit made-up genres?
>>43388654i wasn't aware synthpop was a write-off
>>43388654electronic is a genre, just vaguesynthpop is a pretty good descripter, but not for all of those albums
>>43388654They're sometimes considered Krautrock even though they sound nothing like the majority of it. Try Cluster, Tangerine Dream, Brian Eno, Neu! Klaus Shultz.
>>43388654synthpop is fine for trans europe express, man machine, and computerwelt i think. progressive electronic or krautrock are also used often.
>>43388776
>>43388696You're missing the point a bit. I'm not personally saying electronic isn't a genre. I'm calling out /mu/ autists who consistently spout this statement and asking them to categorise this by whatever unnecessary electronic subgenre they can pull out of their ass. Otherwise I'm genuinely interested to see if there's a specific subgenre for the Kraftwerk sound.I'd be happy to call it all 'electronic' myself though.
>>43388776>krautrock0/10
>>43388696It is, but it's too broad to be useful>>43388654Computer World is ElctroTEE is a bit industrial, a bit synth-pop and a bit TechnoRadio-Activity is a bit synth-pop, experimental and Musique concrèteAutobahn is a bit Krautroc, a bit Synth-pop, a bit berlin school

>>43388834Not saying it is, just saying it gets labeled that because it's german electronic music from the 70's while the Krautrock scene was going on.

>>43388725There's plenty of good and respectable synthpop out there, (other than Kraftwerk Depeche Mode and New Order also come to mind) try telling that to the /mu/ hivemind though

>>43388654>>43388776Have you guys ever listened to early Kraftwerk? Their first 3 albums (if you count the Ralf & Florian album too) are straight up krautrock, and Autabahn also has some strong influences.
>>43388776Early Kraftwerk is pure krautrock, plain and simple.Listen to Tone Float (from when they were Organisation)

>>43389107who caresshut up
>>43388260It's kind of hard to find that same sound that Kraftwerk has. Most of the stuff you see from that time period doesn't have the same style of melody.I can suggest The Strange World of Bernard Fevre though. It's not exactly as robotic as The Man Machine nor as spacious as Autobahn. Think more along the lines of 1975 mixed with moog and science fiction.Dalihttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQYe7MgHbrMFantasmhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgH3cw5cdHQThe record itself is very hard to find, and I've only found bits and pieces on Youtube. Bernard Fevre remixed/remastered the tracks in 2009 and released them as The Strange New World of Bernard Fevre under his Black Devil Disco Club project. These are from the 2009 remix/remaster.Dangerous Mixturehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbPbdN3jA4cMolecule Dancehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhKdWZjjQKQThe music video for Molecule Dance is especially good. This playlist also has more of his older stuff, most of it is extremely hard to find due to a lot of it being library music.http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXpfnTfNnzUqkHgZAckKi7iESnsVPqVmD

bamp>mfw Musique Non Stop's video took years to make and sat in an archive for three years before the album/video came out
>>43389129OK listen to the first two Kraftwerk albums. Still pure krautrock.
