Hey /b/. How do you guys feel about metal? I really want to know why more people don't like it. I think it's the kitty's titties. I'm sure if Beethoven were alive and could hear, he'd probably love metal too. I chose not to post this on /mu/ because we all know those tasteless elitist faggots are too busy jerking it to Animal Collective, Vampire Weekend, or whatever bullshit they're drooling over these days to contribute to a conversation about real music.
What are some of your favorite metal subgenres/bands?

I like metal. The guitar playing is often really interesting, and so as a guitar player, I'm interested in it.

As I get older though, I identify less with it, and screaming vocals just kind of get on my nerves these days.

I still have alot of respect for extreme metal musicians. Much of that stuff is ridiculously technical, and there's no money in it, its purely a labor of love.
