>>42418330Also, pic related is what I got in the mail yesterday
Dream pop is 4 fagsThis thread is now for epic memes
>>42418387Please go back to >>>/b/
>>42418413Please go back to >>>/r/dreampop
Let's get some charts going. Rate/rec/do whatever
listening to pic relatedgenius
>>42418487Relistened to Psychocandy last night for the first time in a long time, for how amazing it is.Also, this was pretty good, 80's synth/new wave and post-punk inspirations. Really noisey and punkish at times too.
>>42418487How's the new mazzy star? I still haven't checked it out.
>>42419019I really like it, it's sort of acoustic dream pop and gives some really comfy feels. Haven't listened to anything else from their discog though, so I don't really know how it compares
>>42419011>Relistened to Psychocandy last night for the first time in a long time, for how amazing it is.I did the same, and the had the same result. 10/10 album.Gave pic related a listen just now, pretty good despite obviously borrowing from other shoegazer bands. Also has sort of an emo vibe throughout, but it isn't overpowering if you're put off by that.8/10 worth listening to.
How come I never saw this album discussed in these threads? Shoegaze AOTY quality stuff.http://weed.bandcamp.com/releases
>>42419054Oh, well you should check out So Tonight That I Might See, it's also comfy and acoustic. You've heard Fade Into You right? It's essential.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbFc4pNvync
>>42419177this isnt shoegaze
>>42419184I haven't, actually, but I'll definitely check this out then, digging the sample. Thanks anon
Still taking submissions for the official playlist, I figured a max length of 100 songs would be appropriate.
>>42419386The December Sound - Send Us Love (either than or Summer's Gone)
>>42419094Oh cool thanks, I've been meaning to hear that. An emo vibe could be great. I never used to like emo, but this friend of mine who went on /mu/ got me into it and I've been tempted to break and listen to emo because he may have committed suicide but I have no way of knowing...
Opinions on Chapterhouse?I think they're really underrated. Despite being on a major label early in their career they managed to maintain a respectable amount of quality in their discography. Whirlpool and the Mesmerise EP are highlights.
Something from The Fauns, they just had their second album out, give them both a listen, tons of good stuff.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2amGp8mTtYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=80EiV0kIAG0http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XhVkiOar0Ewhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqGirS2WMtA
>>42420200>Fauns second albumFuck yes
Damn /mu/... this is both hilarious and really really sad
>>42420238I mean seriously at least turn the scrobbler off if you're gonna cheat
bump
Someone convince me not to listen to pic related.Getting so bored of dream pop.Must resist.
>>42418330Listening to my purchase for the first time now. It is such an amazing album, and perfect for vinyl. Btw I think it's still on sale, if you check their fb page
>>42420630>burialthe samples are horriblehorrible drumscheesy 80's sound(not in a good way)
>>42419386The Clientele - Reflections After Jane
Listening to Ulrich Schnauss now. I'm digging it.'Bout to listen to Velocity Trip for the first time.
>>42420630Just listen to it. What's even the point of listening to a single genre? It makes literally no difference.
>>42420238never change /mu/
>>42420870How is Ulrich Schnauss dream pop?
>>42420873FUCK IT WHAT'S THE POINT OF LIFE????
>>42420916Apparently it counts as shoegaze, which is allowed.
>>42420873Yeah I'm just gonna leave the last.fm group i think, wanna listen to other stuff but I don't want to fuck up the charts.
>>42420933It's not shoegaze though.
>>42420630its his best EP yetignore all these haters they said the same shit when Truant/Rough Sleeper came out. Its getting hate because its so different but if it was the same people would say its shit because he keeps doing the same thing over and over
>>42420957Well I got it from that "essential shoegaze" torrent soooo I'm just going by what I've been given.
>>42420957>you put a label i don't like onto something i do like. now i'm sad and insecure>waaahhhhhh.jpg
>>42421000I'm just saying, this thing is kind of pointless when you're meant to be listening solely to dream pop/shoegaze and then you go and listen to stuff that is very, very, very vaguely dream pop. This whole thing is silly, if you want to listen to lots of shoegaze/dream pop, just do it.
>>42420630NOTHING BUT DUBSTEP DECEMBER
Alright, /mu/gazers, what is your opinion on Amusement Parks On Fire? I think they're a fantastic band and probably one of the best current shoegaze bands in the UK.Link if you've never heard them:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vCUBC1u9Qq0They're a bit on the alt-rock side, but very good nontheless.
>>42418577is this even dream pop
Thanks for the blackgaze pastebin, OP. I was missing a few albums from Lantlos.
>>42421431Best comfy Dream Pop? Anything like Mazzy Star, Slowdive or Galaxie 500 woukd be cool
>>42421643Grouper perhaps?
I'm really liking Mayfield by Drop Nineteens at the moment, the public toilet level audio quality kinda adds to it
>>42421881Yep, already like Grouper though :/>>42422047You'll probably like Vivian Girls then, they are not really similar but I find they have a similar vibes, don't know. Check them out if you want bb ;)
>>42419386faunts - sleepwalker
>>42419386Then we should limit it to two songs per artist or something like that. This way we can have more artists in there
>>42422897Damn... Maybe some other suggestions then>Bowery Electric - Beat>Amp - Stenorette>Happiness Horizons - Bookmarks (more on the ambient side, though)
>>42423195Yay! Thanks a ton for these suggestions. Will listen to them tonight, needed something chil and relaxing so thank you :)
>>42423250If you need really chill, start with Beat. Always here to help a fellow NBDPD'er out :)
>>42419177great band anon, i've been listening to them a lot recentlywait to pleasure is still my shoegaze aoty tho
I'm remaking the pastebin now, and will update it regularly, hopefully
>>42423805Thanks a lot, dude
>tfw getting those shoegaze feels>tfw no qt3.14s listen to shoegaze>tfw i'll have to gaze on my own
>>42423937yeah no problem, should be done soon
UPDATED NBDPD PASTEBINtell me if I'm missing anythinghttp://pastebin.com/wW4ggabh
>>42424867Almost everyone doing NBDPD knows your feel. Souvlaki is my way to go for this feel, it's just so dreamy and feelsy. >Anyone knows more feelsy shoegaze/dream pop records?Would be nice to discuss a bit, guys :)>>42425065Thanks a ton for the pastebin. Is one of the most useful things for the month
>>42425207Well my go to feelsy albums are probably the most well-known in the genres: Loveless, Souvlaki and Head over Heels. Though it's a weird feel, as I'm listening I'm wondering if anything ever will compare to the beauty of the music. Also, noise pop such gives me a weird kind of anger-releasing feel, though i only know of Lucie Vacarme, Mercury Rev and Jesus and Mary Chain in that genre.
>>42425371If you like noise pop, A Place To Bury Strangers is essential m8
>>42425207you're welcome :) I just copied most of it from the original pastebin though, I'm not the original guy he went awol, just trying to keep it updated >>42425371add medicine - the Buried life and Shot Forth Self Living to that list those are both pretty noisy
>>42425371Head Over Heels is soo good. Cocteau Twins in general give me this kind of weird feel, so I know what you mean.Neither I have any knowledge in Noise Pop and don't know more bands except for the ones you posted and A Place to Bury Strangers, would love to hear more on the genre though.
>>42425423>>42425455Thanks for the recs guys, appreciate it>>42425460Gotta love Elizabeth Fraser and that voice of hers
>>42425460>>42425490If you're looking for noise pop, lovesliescrushing is also essential.
>>42425570thx bb
>>42425599np baybee :^*
>>42425599>mfw my two favourite genres mixed in one record>mfw it's GOATSo much win guys ;-;What are your favourite shoegais or dream pop albums that mix other genres in it? I'm curious about what more genres have been mixed with shogeais and dp
>>42425722alcest - souvenirs d'un autre monde, black gays
btw guys I added a bunch of cocteau twins to the paste that I found in the archive, thought you might be interested in them, idk
>>42425775Yeh, the Cocteaus are the best dream pop band evurr>>42425768Blackgais sounds cool, might check it out as it has been recommended more than once
>>42425722Piles and Piles>http://pilesandpiles.bandcamp.com/Math rock + shoegaze + just a tiny hinch of emoIt is amazing, to say the least.
>>42425768>>42425722Both of these are great. Especially Beat (I'm listening to it right now), mixing trip hop with Shoegaze sounds really cool and the album is chill af. What's your favorite track in there? Mine would be Fear of Flying probably.Oh, also thanks to this anon >>42423195 who suggested me to listen to it before. Can't get me to like Alcest that much though, blackgaze doesn't do it for me :/
>tfw listening to down colorful hill for the first timehold me guys ;_;
>>42425941Being that anon, you're welcome. I'm also the anon that keeps posting this >>42425875, as I think it's amazing. So far I've seen the album on 1 chart this month that wasn't mine, and that made me so happy

All their discog is fantastic though.>>42426031I vote for the dream folk idea, sounds really cool. Anyone knows any albums of the genre? >>42426106>Kahimi Karie - K.K.K.K.K.c'mon son that's stretching the definition of dream pop a bit too far innit?

I don't have a download, but this album is pretty great. Free to listen to, so check it out!http://icecreamcathedral.bandcamp.com/
>>42426241duuuuuude that first track
>>42426298They were amazing live, and all members are super nice to talk to and all.
>>42426136>>42426149<3>>42426194nothing can stop meseriously if people retrospectively call Sunday Morning by The Velvet Underground dream pop, then I surely will call for an instance Orly-Narita thatbut yes you're right. bonus round tho nawmsayn
>>42426315man, I wish I had a download for this... I'll look later tonight, if I find it I'll put it up here or on the paste
>>42426237I'll just go ahead and add you too, if that's all right m80
>>42426387Feel free to add me :3I like the fact that we have American Football in common besides all that shoegaze/dream pop
>>42426387Om ikke det er en dansker.

>>42426646>tfw I was the only Dane who didn't get dubs ;_;
danskar, såg ni mbv på vega i år också?
>>42426715i guess this is scandi-thread now
>>42426715I didn't go, but I heard that it was a great concert. There was a guy in the record store I work in who was telling about it, and he was looking for their older records. We didn't have them unfortunately.
>>42426765>tfw the record stores in Odense are either shit or i dont know where to look
>>42426518If you find the digital files post them to /mu/ please, I listened to the first track and want to give a decent listen to the album.>>42426710>eyy bambino wanna fukk dios miosI laughed so hard. That's actually some italian thing mixed with english and a bit of spanish. Made me laugh though c:
>>42426783So are they in Copenhagen... Either they don't have anything, or it's expensive as fuck. What about Moby Disc? Been there a few times, and it seemed like a pretty good store
>>42426789im glad :3
>>42426765yup it was really good. Their earlier work is basically impossible to find in stores, if you're not looking for represses i guess
>>42426825i really like insula music. not the broadest selection, but they have some really cool stuff.
>>42426783That sucks :(We have some decent ones in KBH I reckon. The one I work in exclusively deals in second-hand though, so we don't have any new stuff pretty much ever. We still have some cool stuff every now and then though.>>42426825Huh, R66 isn't that expensive? And Fona på Stroget is pretty alright too. Sure, it's almost exclusively new, hip and 'indie' stuff, but there's some good stuff still.>>42426843Yep, unfortunately.
>>42426783>tfw great record store with rare material and stuff opened near Barcelona yesterdayFeels good man. I haven't went there yet, though.
>>42426915Man, that really sounds like a sweet job, i'd love to work in a record store and recommend people stuff>>42426916niice, do you live in catalonia or are you just nearby? never been to barcelona, seems like a GAOT place
>>42426992Well, I don't really get to rec much... I only work with shrinkwrapping the second-hand records so they can go on the shelves. It's also mostly old men who are looking exclusively for dadrock or classical. It's still a fantastic job though!
>>42427046i thought they were all qt3.14 shoegazers, well, i guess sometimes all you need is the rough touch of an old man ;_;
>>42426992Yep, I live in Barcelona, and indeed it is a GOAT place. The attitude of the vast majority of the people living here ruins the atmosphere a bit for me though, they're usually super "edgy" and are constantly copying UK trends, especially the teens. But whelp, there's a bunch of other people living here so it's not that big of a problem, I guess I'm just over-analysing '^__^
>>42427109Well, they are sorta like what you are expecting in most 'indie' record stores that sell new stuff. But ours is an old smoky place with mostly blues, jazz, classical, Pink Floyd and Beatles...
>>42426789I saked my friend, and he said he'd lost the download code that came with the record. But then he found it under his amp! I'm uploading now, so I'll post it momentarily.
>>42427137well, i think every big city is like that nowadays, with globalisation and what not>>42427143sounds like a cozy place to me, still
>>42427284Oh, it definitely is!
what are you guys listening to?I'm listening to pic relatedI'm really enjoying it, very feely>the track "...A Psychopath", which contains audio taken from an actual 9-1-1 emergency phone call placed by a woman who was being terrorized by an intruder in her home
>>42427284> every big city is like that nowadays, with globalisation and what notYeah, probably. I guess I was on grumpy mode when I wrote that post a few minutes ago n_n'>sounds like a cozy place to meIt really sounds like it is, they should add an Indie and Shoegaze section to attract the qt3.14s though
>>42427374fucking hell guys the screams of the woman in the 911 call holy fuck
>>42427382We actually do have a tiny indie section lol. But it's 50% The Cure and the rest are not too interesting either. There just aren't people selling second-hand indie stuff, and when there are (we had somebody sell us Lana Del Rey's album and JT's new one and such), they get ripped away instantly.
>>42427374I'm listening to The Silver Album again while I wait for Stenorette to finish downloading :3>>42427424>>42427374Sounds sick (in the bad way). 10/10 would not listen to.>>42427436Oh, I see. Then we'll have to go search our shoegaze qt3.12 in another place ;_;
>>42427479Aye, I guess we will...60% on the upload btw.
>>42427479it's really nice though, kind of in the style of red house painters with violins and shit and lyrics about insecurity and shit
>>42427535What upload? Please tell me it's Ice Cream Cathedral

>>42429130pls
>>42429130>>42429157Yish. So what are you currently listening to? I'm giving Ice Cream Cathedral a listen, and I'm loving it so far. It's just great
>>42429130>>42429157>>42429215So, how about we post some charts? 3x3, 5x5 or favorite charts are welcome
Just updated my chart to get ICC on there, it deserves it after just 1 listen.>>42429325I just love the fact that this chart has The December Sound, Mazzy Star, Psychocandy and Bowery Electric on there. On Fire was p good too, but I'm not a huge fan of Kitchens of Distinction. My fav CT album is HoLV so far, but have only listened to that and Treasure. How does Just For A Day compare to the rest of Slowdive's stuff? Pygmalion > Souvlaki imo.
>>42429215been listening to burrrn and oeil a lot today, pretty good. There's something about japanese shoegaze i really like. Gonna listen to ice cream cathedral now
>>42429130Thnx based trip and Danes people for restoring the spirit of the thread

tfw living in clapistan and not wonderful danmark
>>42429516btw, didn't find burrrn in the pastebin. It's one of my favorite shoegaze albums atm, it's like a mix between sonic youth and mbv.https://mega.co.nz/#!MA9mQaAL!PR39YhUwXTRr-Fz04lXiM21bpTkLjRyiDLb5V-bfplc
>>42429480KOC are not much of a big deal, but Strange Free World stick to me really hard when I first heard it so that's why it's second in the chart. And I absolutely love Galaxie 500, they're awesome.Dude, Heaven or Las Vegas is my favourite CT too, Blue Bell Knoll it's close though. I recommend you to listen to Head Over Heels and Blue Bell Knoll if you haven't already, they're great.Just for a Day it's a grower IMO. At first it was really meh, but at mid of the second listen/third listen you catch it and realize it's equally or even better than Slowdive. Haven't listened to Pygmalion yet, might check it out soon.>>42429516Japanese people know the drill when it comes to Shoegaze, they have this something that makes it especial>>42429547>>42429616Hell yes, it's really thanks to the Danes guys c: Though we did all the job of creating the threads and saving them every now and then.
