>shoegaze
kind of a blanket term. music that relies on hazy instrumentation, creating a dreamy feel. often heavy use of effects, especially reverb. it could be noisy, ala mbv, or it could be mellow, ala slowdive

>dream pop
more conventional structure, verse/chorus, the music won't really be as harsh/noisy as others

>noise pop
like dream pop, except more noisy instead of mellow.

>nu gaze
modern shoegaze bands

What exactly is the appeal of MBV. I'm trying to get into them and I do like a few songs like Only Shallow, Loomer, and Sometimes and one song I can't remember the name of off the first LP but most everything else just sounds the exact same droning over. Something like Lush or Asobi Seksu has very distinct, at least for me, differences between songs.

Does anyone else share a love for this particular album?
Back in 2010 when I was just starting to broaden my music taste I accidentally downloaded Gemini and instantly fell in love with it.
Still holds up to me as one of the best modern dream pop/shoegaze records.
Summer Holiday might be my most listened track on lastfm anyways.
Their early EPs are just as great, too bad they've been falling down in quality since Nocture, which was a lot less shoegazy and now Empty Estate, a straight new wave album. What a waste.

there's not in general such thing as an artists "best album", trying to order things in a line doesn't work because there's more dimensions to music than just one. Sure sometimes an album is just terrible and obviously far worse than any of the others but that's exceptional.
