I'm interested in finding some recent straightforward rock music, but I don't really like what's popular on the radio. I don't care for Nickelback, Hinder, Finger eleven, Halestorm, Theory of a Deadman, Puddle of Mudd, Alter Bridge, Shinedown, etc. It all sounds the same to me and I just don't like the way the songwriting or tone, or singing sounds. Is there any straightforward rock music that sounds different than this stuff? Maybe with a more classic rock sound but with a modern flair so as not to sound too dated? Or just something that captures the spirit of rock and roll, instead of sounding like pop anthems like all of the stuff I listed does?

Oh. And pic unrelated

Wow, for a second there I thought it was a circuitous statement on the similarity of the basic premise between Nickelback's albums and the political integrity of the Jedi Council

Have you ever listened to The Sword?

Although they do sound rather dated...

Just get the Foo Fighters discography

Yes. I do like them. But they are more of a metal band than rock I would say.

>> No.39514271

All that stuff is recent straightforward rock. Also,

Sounds like you don't know what you want. Try this.

Not a huge fan of that kind of music, but try this:

I was hoping there was new stuff that didn't sound like that. And I do like the band you linked to me. But I would say that sounds more like metal to me. But I still consider Deep Purple and Rainbow, etc to be what should be called Heavy metal.

And by stuff that doesn't sound like that, I meant the stuff I listed.

Thanks for the rec.

I guess what I'm looking for is modern rock music that's in standard tuning. Has distortion but not super charged like the stuff I said I didn't care for. And a decent singer that doesn't have such a low gruff voice as most modern rock music. It may not exist at all for that matter. Just curious if there was anything.

Do you have a last.fm account so I don't go and keep rec'ing bands you already like?

You cool with female singers?

>>39514526
I sure don't. But if they are recent bands I likely haven't heard of them. I only know the recent stuff I mentioned in the original post. And that's not on purpose that I'm aware of any of that honestly. Lol.

Rocky enough to satisfy rock-fans. Arty enough to satisfy hipsters.

It's raw straightforward rock that doesn't have any frills or oddness to it. Which are both perfectly alright, just not what I'm trying to hunt down currently.

OP, I'm in the same boat. Personally I'm a huge fan of Queens of the Stone Age, Eagles of Death Metal, The Bronx, Arctic Monkeys, and Cage the Elephant. Try these out. If you like bluesier stuff give Black Rebel Motorcycle Club a listen.
