Definitely a bunch of ween fans on here. But generally the discussion always seems to degrade to The Pod v. The Mollusk.

I'm a Mollusk man just cus that was my point of entry for Ween.

spinal meningitis was what really got me into them and yeah The Pod master race cause it's got an awesome sound

the pod??? seriously? don't get me wrong, it's not a bad album but it's nowhere near their best. Obviously this is one man's opinion, but I'd probably rank them as follows:
1. chocolate and cheese

care to enlighten me? I realize it's kind of a ridiculous thing to try and articulate, but why is The Pod so well liked? I'm sincerely curious. I've been a ween fan for years now and I've always considered the pod to be a poor man's pure guava. not trying to start a circlejerk, but why the pod?

i guess it depends more on what kind of music you prefer, and since every ween album is different they're bound to attract all kinds of listeners.
i like weird, lo-fi and experimental stuff so their first 3 albums are more up my alley and it was the at their brownest, but i still love their entire discog aside from la cucaracha

you guys should check out dean ween's other band: moistboyz. shit's great, kinda in the same vein as "it's gonna be a long night"

that's my favorite thing about ween, there isn't really a definitive consensus on what the "best" ween album is. Depending on your friend group and your music tastes, it varies a lot. The only almost all ween fans tend to agree on is that la cucaracha is probably their worst album. Not terrible per se, but in comparison to the rest of ween's catalog, definitly the worst

Group 1 (eclectic ween):

yeah it's a shame they had to end their amazing career like that. they'll probably do a reunion at some point but doubtfully any new material. atleast we got the new moistboyz to look forward to. haven't really listened to gene's solo

Personally, I got The Pod on a whim from Columbia House (dating myself) and that was my entry into Ween. The thing that was so great about it was the sense that they were creating their own Ween universe or whatever. Not my favorite album still, but it's up there. I tend to prefer Chocolate and Cheese and Quebec

the first two songs I heard by ween were taste's good on the bun and big fat fuck. I was thoroughly convinced that ween was awful and I made a point of not listening to them. Two years later, I'm taking bong hits at my buddy's place and poop ship destroyer comes on... the rest is histroy

First Ween song i checked out was Transdermal Celebration. I saw that a girl I liked had Ween as one of her favorite bands on facebook so i checked them out, and just fell in love with that song (and the animated video on youtube).

I actually started liking ween from tony hawk underground 2, it was a sick game and "It's gonna be a long night" was awesome so i checked the whole quebec album and i also enjoyed Transdermal Celebration. After that i checked out their whole discog and it was great
