I'm not a metalhead, but this was the first one I liked when I was 12 and I swore by classic rock only. I think it's as valid as any other genre, but there's a lot of crap out there. Sunbather is one of my favorite albums of the year so far.

Also, metal has the worst fanbase of any genre. ESPECIALLY ones who swear by scandinavian metal.

As someone who shamelessly listens to metal almost exclusively, I almost didn't listen to it, mistaking it for pop or some kind of another. Was I pleasantly surprised when I heard instruments.
