What is the most terrible thing in music right now? I think j-pop and k-pop.Style over substance at its worst, no artistic value whatsoever, just some neckbeards fapping over trannies who had plastic surgery numerous times. It also takes clues from modern asian pop culture(which is much worse than western pop culture).

The fact that tho many bookth thill name the Beatleth "the greatetht or moth thignificant or moth influential" rock band ever only tellth you how far rock muthic thill ith from becoming a theriouth art. Jazz criticth have long recognized that the greatetht jazz muthicianth of all timeth are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the moth famouth or richetht or beth thellerth of their timeth, let alone of all timeth. Clathical criticth rank the highly controverthial Beethoven over clathical muthicianth who were highly popular in courth around Europe.
Rock criticth are thill blinded by commershal thuctheth: the Beatleth thold more than anyone elth (not *spit true, by the way), therethore they muth have been the greateth. Jathzz criticth grow up lithening to a lot of jathzz muthic of the patht, clathical criticth grow up lithening to a lot of clathical muthic of the patht. Rock criticth are othen totally ignorant of the rock muthic of the patht, they barely know the bethellers. No wonder they will sink that the Beatleth did anysing wors of being thaved.

Pedestrian but pleasant indie rock generally is what annoys me most about contemporary popular music. It's particularly bad in Canada, where most government arts funding for music goes towards that kind of stuff for whatever reason. I guess it has broad appeal.
