help me into jazz, /mu/. I really really liked Kind of Blue.
oh and I'd like some happier stuff as well
You should listen to every single one of these. This is a great starting place for anyone looking to delve into many types of Jazz. I personally suggest A Love Supreme or Time Out if you want to start somewhere.
>>34462915I always feel like jazz threads on /mu/ are pretty pleb. But this is a rad chart.I never see anyone post about jazz a little further out in left field that's happening today like Supersilent or Food or Humcrush or The Thing. Anybody out there?
>>34462915Thanks anon! Which one of these clusters of albums are more happier and which ones are more bluesy?
>>34462915This is a fine chart. Start here OP

Pharaoh SandersArchie Shepp
>>34463038Well I can't say they all fit into a category of happy or bluesy, but Time Out is real upbeat. Out to Lunch, Four For Trane and See No Evil are as well. Red Clay is pretty bluesy (One of my all time faves) as is Karma. None of these albums really qualify as "sad" however.

>>34463144Dubs confirm
if you're down for the fusion check out Lenny White or Ronnie Laws
>>34463144Even then, many of the songs were done in a single take (I mean once a solo started). I have a copy of a deluxe edition, and all it has is an alternate version of Flamingo Sketches, making a grand total of six songs. Is there a version with even more alternate tracks and false starts? If so, can you link me to that.
>>34463213Sun Ra - Space is the Place
>>34462800Check out Dave Brubeck Quartet - Time out from 1959. It's an absolute classic, kind of upbeat and REALLY easy to into.
