Bleach was their best album, In Utero was about as good though. Nevermind is way too poppy for me to think much of it, though I still hold it higher than "average". It just pales in comparison to good grunge music, including some of their own work.

Bleach is alright....the troo-grunge sound is kinda unpalatable for me. All the gross redneck stuff (yes, I know the ugly portrayals were Kurt's intention).

Nevermind and In Utero (and the live albums of course) I like much more. When his lyrics went more introverted, and his neurosis and body horror issues and whatnot came out... I thought that was more interesting. Definitely things that you've never heard in a mainstream rock band before or since. He had a great sense of humor too.
