Umekichi - Okunimeguri
>Modern traditional Japanese folk music, minyou
>”Minyou is a form of Japanese Folk Music which literally translates as "folk song". These songs are divided into different categories such as "inaka bushi"/"inaka buri" (rural style), "hina uta" (country song), "ondo" (working song), "bon uta" (Bon song) and "komori uta" (lullaby song). They are associated with work, religious rites, festivities, weddings and funerals. The singer is often accompanied by shamisen, shakuhachi and taiko. Minyou also includes a particular form of singing characterized by pitched shouts called kakegoe, which is also used in Nagauta.”

Ground Zero - Plays Standards
>Japanese experimental rock, sound collage, avant-prog, noise rock, turntable music, musique concrète, jazz rock
>”Otomo Yoshihide, ringleader of many projects and collaborations, works the turntables, plays guitar, whistles, plays in the bath, plays with his agogo bell, and certainly makes the most of his madcap ensemble. With him are 7 members who provide sampling effects, handle percussion, vocals, sax, and bass. Otomo masterfully twists some international tunes (classic and otherwise) into a unique sound world all his own.”

Ghost - Hypnotic Underworld
>Japanese psychedelic rock/psychedelic folk jam band, features guitar work by Michio Kurihara who you may know from his work with Boris, White Heaven,YBO2, Cosmic Invention, and more. As far as I'm concerned, this is their best work, they are clearly equally influenced by the Japanese psych movement of the 70's as well as by several krautrock bands, can be quite spacey.
It also has an Earth and Fire cover as well as one of Syd Barrett's "Dominoes".

This is one of "Crazy Legs" Scaruffi's favorite Japanese bands and he gave this album a 7.5

Otomo Yoshihide's New Jazz Orchestra - Plays Eric Dolphy Out to Lunch
>Japanese free jazz group led by the brilliant Otomo Yoshihide, experimental big band, avant-garde jazz, EAI, onkyo
>This is a complete reimagining of and a track by track cover of Eric Dolphy's most famous and important work, do not expect them to sound the same as a lot of the appeal of listening to this is seeing how they have changed the original compositions, I do not recommend listening to this if you have not yet heard the original (which I can provide a link too as well), features an original 2deep4u track at the end, probably my favorite of Yoshihide's jazz projects

Lot of interesting experimental stuff here. How about a more mainstream japanese band?

Band: Yellow Magic Orchestra
Albums:

Yellow Magic Orchestra (USA Edition)
http://www.mediafire.com/?zo5edq4wzkn
>YMO's first album. Contains the hits Firecracker and Tong Poo. Fun, poppy synth. Inspired video game music most grew up on.

Solid State Survivor
http://www.mediafire.com/?jnfyumrntym
>The critic's favorite. Contains Rydeen and Behind the Mask. More fun, poppy synth, but Castalia foreshadows their future direction.

Public Pressure
http://www.mediafire.com/?ldnnamyjntz
>First [major] live album. Not essential, but still fun to hear.

Xoo Multiplies
http://www.mediafire.com/?yydumyyycaj
>Japanese edition. American edition has Solid Sate Survivor tracks. Contains New Age and a bunch of comedy tracks. Weird, weird album.

B.G.M.
http://www.mediafire.com/?8qnsx3yg2ra4h4o
>One of my favorite albums ever. Aside from 'Rap Phenomena' it is flawless. Contains Ballet, Cue, and Mass.

Technodelic
http://www.mediafire.com/?2q6j67568e8bzis
>Another darker album. Overall a strong album. Contains Pure Jam and Seoul Music.

Les Rallizes Dénudés - High or Die
>Early Japanese noise rock, psych band
>This gem of their discography often gets overlooked but despite that fact it’s one of my favorites, the album features them straying somewhat from their standards they play on most releases and has some quieter and slower jams not unlike their earlier work,

Yapoos - ヤプーズ計画 (Yapoos Keikaku)
>Synth pop, new wave, art pop
>Late 80’s project featuring the wonderful Jun Togawa in her creative prime,
>”At first glance, it's pleasant but unchallenging, Art Of Noise sounding synthpop with Togawa's powerful, acrobatic vocals on top. Bouncy if occasionally dark, not too far removed from many of the band's equally synth crazed Western peers. This is one of those albums that gets more impressive the deeper you go, revealing textures and atmospheres that are virtually impossible to catch in a casual, put-it-on-while-doing-housework listen.”

明田川荘之, 三上寛 & 石塚俊明 - 大勘定 [Daikanjyo]
>Free improvisation, avant-folk, free folk
>the recording mostly consists of piano, vocals, drums and guitar and has a bluesy feel to it, RYM tends to like this a lot

he's the only person in North Korea who has internet.

plus his dad invented the Internet and came up with torrenting, so why wouldn't he?

(The Black Skirts) 검정치마 - 201 (special edition)
>South Korean indie rock/pop, very catchy and good, one of my favorites from Korea
>This well written and performed rock pop album came out of nowhere in 2008 and surprised listeners with catchy choruses and fun instrumentation, If you have only heard their 2011 followup and weren’t impressed fear not because this album is superior in every way imaginable.
>The songs are sung in a good mix of Korean and (well sung) English, the special edition includes a few more nice songs.

폐허 (Pyha) - The Haunted House
>Black Metal, Atmospheric Black Metal, Dark Ambient, Depressive Black Metal
>Even though this is his third album, this is apparently the work of a troubled 14 year old South Korean high school student, which means he would have been something like eleven when he first started making black metal, don’t be quick to write this off because it’s made by someone so young, it does have a certain lo-fi and amateurish sound to it but it works for the kind of music he’s making

Shizuka - Heavenly Persona
>Fantastic 90’s noisy Japanese psych, a lot of the album features a likely depressed singer singing slow and mellow songs with some gut wrenching and deliciously noisy guitar soloing brought to you by her husband Maki Miura (who played with Fushitsusha), She later killed herself, sad album but also really amazing, the album sounds just like how the album cover looks

Enemite (怨) - 巫怨 (Wuyuan)
>Chinese ritual ambient/dark ambient release and the side project of the vocalist from black metal band Evilthorn. What sets this album apart is the vocals, which are often slow and delivered in distorted moans and gurgles. The music that accompanies them is cold and sparse, with frequent use of dark droning synth sounds. The percussion is minimal and primitive sounding.

Magical Power Mako - Super Record
>Magical Power Mako was one of the earliest, most important, and most influential figures in the Japanese psychedelic/avant-garde movement, He is still actively making music to this day and continues to incorporate different styles and genres into his music, this is perhaps my favorite of his works, it stands as a prime example of what Japanese psychedelic music can be and it is without a doubt a super record, one of the greatest Japanese albums, worth noting that this isn’t as noisy as a lot of other famous Japanese psych and has obvious krautrock influences.

Salon Music - Mash
>Mid 90’s guitar pop from Japan,
>Salon music started off as a an 80’s synthpop and new wave duo that transitioned into making guitar based pop rock (like on this album for instance) but they always incorporated some remnants of their earlier sound into their later work, really whispery female vocals

Yes. It will be on the archive, or you can ask me about it at http://www.last.fm/user/brofessoroak and I'll hook you up. Or you could just ask me later anytime you see me.

I've not heard of a better Boredomes side project, and I've listened to quite a few. I don't think the sample quite does it justice.
