Personally, I already have ordered the new defeated sanity record. There's not a whole lot of stuff I'm super excited for. I'm sure the new gorguts will be amazing, because it's gorguts. I'm also stoked for the new skagos. That band has been my favorite black metal band ever, and I love everything they've put out. I'm not big on a whole bunch of new metal. I think a lot of it is either not true enough to the style (meaning it carelessly melds other elements in) or it just worships the old school. It's a bit of a stretch, but sometimes there's something new that I really enjoy. I'm picky.

Last year had some great metal releases. The latest from Grave, the newest Converge, Parallax II from BtBaM. Here's hoping this year is even better.

Seriously. The creativity of the death metal scene has been pretty desolate since the 90s when a shittonomg of bands came out with enduring classics. Not to say we don't have active and awesome bands; the chasm to name one. Seriously, the chasm is incredible. Not to say there isn't less than ten bands who are still active and producing good metal. Maybe the good bands aren't producing, but probably a good amount are still active. I just hate when bands like demigod come back from the abyss and come out with something totally average. Like, I wouldn't want gorement or demilich or rippikoulu or hundreds of other one album-ever-released-bands to come back. I want their classics to live on in complete legendary status.
