Start with Close to the Edge, absolutely. Then go to Fragile and The Yes Album.

Relayer's pretty good, as is Tales from Topographic Oceans. Then check out the remainder of their pre-90125 stuff in any order you want (except Tormato; just skip that)

90125 through Union doesn't have too much to offer. Talk is a pretty underrated album, and I'm also pretty fonf of The Ladder and Magnification

I'm a fan of Steven Wilson and his work with Porcupine Tree, and most of Opeth's stuff is enjoyable at least.

Phideaux are pretty good, and I'm also quite fond of The Dark Third by Pure Reason Revolution.

Beardfish's new album is a lot less 70s-worship than previous works and includes a few metal tracks. Zechs Marquise are also pretty cool.
