It's not brilliant, but it really isn't as bad as people say it is.
>dat homecoming

I think whats so good is that the songwriting is just so fresh and distinct. Nothing really sounds like filler; its just surprisingly tight music. Its hard for me to explain, and maybe nostalgia is part of it, but its hard for me not to be impressed by the sharpness of the songwriting

>> No.29490200

It was the album that got me into music, although these days it's not one of my favourites, I still love the song writing on there, and it is an incredibly complex album for a mainstream rock back

>> No.29490226

it reminds me of christmas for some reason.

It was released in November

I still listen to it every now and then. It's babby's first pop punk album, but for me it served as a gateway to better music.

I liked it a lot. Wasn't amazing, but it's the only Green Day album that wasn't either boring or outright shitty

>> No.29490318

i wish i listened to music like this again. i listened to this over and over and over. i think for me it was late elementary/early middle school

>> No.29490431

I wasn't into green day since the mid 90s. When this came out and they changed their whole image and everything, i thought they were going through a midlife crisis

Marked the turning point of Green Day from a decent entertaining fun pop-punk band to bullshit

Cracks me up every time.

I remember when this album came out, it was the first I saw people wearing band tees for something other than dad rock. Also, I remember getting invited to a pool party, where someone played this album and got a girl down to her underwear dancing to it. So yeah, even though Green Day is a joke, it's a joke I used to laugh at a lot.

Better than My Bloody Valentine. This album actually has some intellectual merit. I study musical theory and find Green Day have complex harmonies and otherworldly arrangements, along with some mind-bending chord progressions (dem 7ths). Green Day have more artistic merit then any so called /mu/core
