Can we please talk about the current hardcore/pop punk scene?
Does anyone here listen to it?

I'm not talking about Suicide Silence or anything either

>implying pop punk and hardcore have had any connection since the early 80's when Descendents were formed

to answer each separately, the "hardcore" scenes of America are now just 16 year olds in tank tops, flatbrims and basketball shorts doing bicycle kicks.

there is no pop-punk scene, unless you count Ben Weasel and the bands he hangs out with as a scene.

The only pop-punk band I really listen to is Title Fight, they're pretty cool. Other than that I don't know shit about pop-punk.

I like Cerebral Ballzy, OFF! and No Problem.

I'm talking about 'easycore,' if you will
Bands like Major League or pre-2010 Four Year Strong

Wide Eyed (named way before Centipede Hz came out) is a local Phoenix hardcore pop-punk band, they're definitely one of the better local bands, but I've only seen them once. Their frontman shits on most hurrdurr I'm cool and energetic frontmen.

>tfw Crucial Dudes break up before they play the shows in your area
>you will never see Crucial Dudes live

I live in Phoenix and the best local band is objectively Roar.

>> No.27664072

I'd consider Tigers Jaw's self titled to be fairly pop punk. I also consider it to be one of the better albums from 2010.

There's a huge pop punk scene outside of Ben Weasel and his related bands. In fact he's pretty much a pariah of the whole scene at this point. Just look at all the bands on the Gainesville Fest, Insubordination Fest, etc.

I'm all in on Sharks. That album they released this year is pretty damn sweet.

There are so many bands that deserve so much more recognition and don't get any coverage

Was seeing that too. Different band than the one I'm referring to. I'm talking about the British band, not the Canadian one.

The hardcore scene in Rochester ny is annoying as fuck. All the bands have the same melodramatic type of name. I'd post some examples but it would just make me sick to find them

Saw them, wasn't that impressed tbh.

I think they've got a knack for hook-writing, which goes a long way in my book.

Name some of your favorite hardcore bands and I'll tell you what I think of them
