I don't usually post about movies here, but this one is too cool for me not to make a wall of text nobody will read.

>Wild in the Streets (1968)

The late 60s saw a few youthsploitation films come out carrying the same message: that teenagers were evil and were going to use their lsd to kill everyone. Wild in the Streets delivers this message in the most over the top way possible, as that's more or less the plot of the movie.

Max Frost is a rock sensation and is the most popular man in the world. Through his influence and some ingenious finagling, Max is able to get himself elected president. Obviously, his first order of business as president is putting everyone over the age of 35 in lsd concentration camps. LMAO. The subtle, or perhaps not so subtle, antisemitism is strong in this one. There's a line in the movie that's roughly "Who are history's greatest villains? Jews?", lol.

There's some obvious flaws, as you'd expect for such a b-grade production, namely some fucking weird directional choices and the constant pushing of their plebby soundtrack. But fuck this movie is ridiculous. This movie also randomly features an unknown Richard Pryor; him responding to "You know what I read in the papers?" with "No, but I know what you roll in the papers" might have been the only intentionally funny part of the movie.

Also the ending is the fucking funniest thing. It's meant to be this serious fear stirring dramatic warning, but wow, lol. Everything about it is perfect.

Pic related was the highlight of the movie.

8/10

In my head that doesn't sound as great, but I'm sure it's probably ok.
