Andrew hill is the most talented 'cerebral' jazz artist of all time. The guys stuff is so insanely good and unlike other artists, listening to him is like having him ten steps ahead of you, but still laying out the pieces for you to stumble into on your own. And he's still making awesome material, like pic related from the 2000's. The ultimate intellectual jazz but still not stuffy high brow.
