SISTSIJS is a fun album, albeit inconsistent. The final three (arguably four) tracks are noticeably drab and dull, Debbie Downer being the worst offender. A seemingly incomplete and insignificant mess.
The album incorporates a variety of soundscapes from Britpop, (despite Barnett's Aussie roots), punk rock, singer/songwriter, indie rock with varying degrees of success, but overall it's a good album.
Whether or not you enjoy it is going to hinge on something similar to Chvrches and Asteroids Galaxy Tour: do you find the female vocalist's sound endearing or annoying. I enjoyed it although it isn't enough to carry the more banal aspects of the album. It's also feels way shorter than it is (and it's only 43 minutes), and imbues a nice nostalgic quality even if you don't know what a Melbourne is.
Best: Pedestrian at Best or Dead Fox
Worst: Debbie Downer or Kim's Caravan
